S WI | I'm currently using the totally tubular system with Keeton seed firmers,on JD XP units, planting into fall strips. I'm thinking of switching to the Acra-plant with the starter fertilizer tube(V Shot). I am wondering if these truely keep the seed trench open, which results in more uniform stands as advertised. How long will they last? Do they drag residue?? Mainly looking for pros and cons of this product before I purchase them. Thanks Edited by badgerguy 2/22/2017 21:06 (image.png) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Can't speak for the liquid side of things but we've been planting our best stands of corn with the dry version of this (v-slice insert) paired with properly adjusted keeton seed firmer. Vset meters. 1770NT. Also planting mostly into fall strips. Some no till bean stubble, some chopped/worked wheat stubble, and some no till corn on corn. Really keeps the v cleaned out that was created by the tru vee openers. Have a 15" bean planter that were reblading and we're installing the acra plant v-slicers on that as well. MaxEmerge Plus row units. Keetons need replacing, going to give Flo-Rite seed firmers a try and see how they work. Edited by deeretech1989 2/22/2017 23:00

Kinda like a Keeton and Mojo wires Totally different. You want the seed thoroughly embedded in the bottom of the furrow, which requires either a Keeton + Mojo, or a seed-lock wheel. You do not want any smearing ahead of this process, as it only makes it more challenging, and is compaction where you don't want it. [edited for formatting] Edited by mhagny 2/23/2017 14:05
