North Central IN | Thinking about building a shed this summer for distillers, soyhulls, ground hay, and other feed ingredients, just looking for design ideas. I'm thinking 3 walls of concrete with a pad out front. Just looking for design, dimensions, heights of concrete and shed, and how big to make pad out front. Would like to hold a semi load of distillers. How big is necessary? Dumping with end dump trailer, have a Bobcat to push it up if needed. Thanks!!

west michigan | We built ours with four 12 foot wide bays. Building is 36 feet deep and each bay easily holds a semi load of anything. Concrete walls are 8 feet high with stud wall on top, back wall is 12 feet total height, front I think is 20 feet. We extended the roof over the front to help keep rain and snow out. Floor is slopes slightly from back to front inside and then the approach slopes a little more aggressively away, can't remember the exact slope. We started with a 30 foot pad out front, and later extended it to 80 feet for a mixing pad. The more room you can give trucks the better. Our roof height is not high enough for an end dump to get all the way in, but it hasn't been a problem because most of our feeds comes in on auger truck or belt trailer. I would suggest building it with more bays than you think you'll need, nice to have an empty bay just in case an opportunity comes up. Plus you can always find something to put in there! SE Manitoba | agbuilder - 2/20/2017 10:05 This one is not mine and not quite done yet. Building for a dairy. That is bloody huge!!!!! If you put the spike needle belts (really don't know what they are called) that are at public train stations in Europe on top of those concrete dividers there should be little bird issues in that cavern!

Beresford, SD | Very first building I built after buying my place from dad. It's about 15 years old. Middle bay is for tub ground alfalfa, South Bay has an elevated roller mill that rolls corn from bin......with three swithches. North bay was used for mod or ddgs....now I store tractor and tubgrinder in that bay. (IMG_0331.JPG) Attachments ---------------- IMG_0331.JPG (92KB - 589 downloads)

south central WI | No pics here, but ours is 6 bays wide, 12' wide and about 60' long. The length is nice as I can have belt trailers back in and empty out and I don't have to handle anything. It sucks having to push feed in to get it to fit. Maybe they could hold the brakes and get it to pack, but it seems like they use the whole bay every time. If I push it in I can get about 2.5 semis of cottonseed in each. A big concrete apron with gravel past that hel p s.

wc mn | 5 bay, 14 wide, 30 deep, 8 tall in the back, 14 tall in front. 20 foot apron. Built myself in 2011. Would be nice to have a extra bay or two at times but I have made this work for now. Lynd Minnesota | I'm a feed lot. I have My r-800 mineral on the left and MGA pellets on the right. Bagged products in center ( wide enough for the skid loader to get in , designed for full pellets of bags ) such as CTC hydro-lac or whatever I my need. The door is a 8 ft roll up from menards. I will try to get more pics of door later Edit to add the door is in the brown box waiting to be installed in pics. I used treated lumber to frame the door opening with channel iron a few feet from the door each way to help stiffen the walls as I cut the opening. It really came together quite easy and inexpensive.
