I've got one of these sitting in the corner of the shop. Bought it for $25 at an auction years ago. Never been used but it will need a new paint job to look decent on a new truck. Anyone using them? Can you keep your spare tire under the truck?

On my second in 25 years. On a Chevy 2500 spare tire can't stay. Heavy rugged pumpers at a decent price. Had one on a 98 Chevy and after 15 years the bolts to frame were looking pretty scary and have seen the bolts that hold the shock to the tube pull out.

How new of a Chevy 2500 will the spare not fit? Or is it all f them? Doesn't look like the spring packs take up much more space than the factory receiver frame hitch does. Is it the width or depth that causes the issue? I'm not really wanting to give up bed space for a tire if I don't have to.

On my 97 it won't fit when I put one on my 06 I just took it off. It might work if you put the bumper as far out or back as possible.

Have one on a 2001 and a 2002 2500HD and the spare is still on them.

Junk junk and more junk. Can't believe they are still in business. I have a Schuck from 1983 that is solid, the rest of the truck rusted away. The p&h on my 96 is rusted out junk. Seen many many p&h that are rusted out, NEVER seen any other brand do that. Everything that wears on a Schuck is replaceable, on a p&h you get to weld up the pin and grind it back down.

No, I'm not a salesman for any brand of hitch, just would not recommend a p&h when there are far better options out there.

I think it depends a little on tire size and I believe it has to be a long bed.

Had this one since the 70's, been on three trucks, pulled everything imaginable, tube is starting to rust through, spare still in place.

Not much to explain. Different holes in bumper for different frame width. Springs can be turned with plate up, down, inside, or outside. Put it as far forward as possible and still operate the handle. A brace to support heavy drawbar weight is a good idea. Make it the height of your average tractor drawbar.

If your still stumped ours are only 45 miles away if you want to see them in person.

The one I bought a year ago the tube is rusted through in spots. It seems to have all kinds of l
Metal shavings and rust on the inside of the tube. Is it worth trying to save?

After a long delay I'm finally getting around to maybe putting this bumper on. I'm curious though if it's worth it.im wondering about all this loose stuff rattling around inside it. Is it still ok? I'm gonna put new steel plates where the bolts go to mount the shocks.
