Does anyone have experience running the Firestone VF 22.5" tires on a JD1770NT?

Just wondering if it's worth changing out the pizza cutter truck tires.

I have also, but also thinking about putting a semi tire on. I think a 295 would fit on a 1770, kinda wonder what the diff between these tires and a truck tires are, guessing these are a lot more money than finding decent used truck tires.

While I have no experience with the 22.5's, I have been adding the AD2 15's. My guess is, the 22.5 AD2 will squat more than a regular radial semi tire, thus giving you more floatation? But that is just surmise when comparing my smaller 15's.

Don't know about the truck tires on a 24 row, but just looked at a 16 row of a customer's yesterday that put the 15" version of those on last spring. Planter is either a 12 or 13 and by last year the original tires were shot from notill stalks. Put these on last year and I couldn't even tell the difference from new, could even see where the dimples were yet. Needless to say I was impressed.

Just wondering if the extra flotation would be enough to justify changing......or would you see any difference at all.

The only concern I would see is if the rolling circumference is different. On a mechanical transmission it would throw off your population to some degree.

Actually it will not change the population if ground drive by a contact wheel. If it was ground drive by a chain and sprocket coming off the ground wheel it would.

We put some 11.22.5 used low profile tires on ours with a flat tread. If I remember right original tires were about 8" across ( maybe less) and the truck tires were almost 10" across. I know we figured we gained a full extra tire on main frame and yes it did make a difference. We have a 500 gal fert tank and it carried planter much better. The original tires are almost v shaped and truck tires have a very flat tread. Some truck tires have a flatter tread than others. I was surprised when we measured used tires how much differance there was on the width of tread with same size tire.

Decided to try some used truck tires I found.  Have to say they look impressive.  Could not be any wider.  They are a little shorter so I just changed to a different hole mount. Size is 305/70 22.5  Only problem is they are rare so used ones are hard to find. New Michelins are +$800 Toyo is cheaper.  So the Firestone VF may be good as it gets for the $ if buying new.
