I am amazed about the power and performance of my new Challenger 1042. The Man engine is awesome. It's the quietest diesel I have ever been around. Full torque at 1100 rpm's; is all there. It has noticeable more power than my Challenger 775E track machine. The 1042 pulls my 25 shank parabolic deep ripper 1.5 mph faster than the 775E track machine. I've also ran a 7 20" Tatu switch breaking plow and packer that this tractor handled with ease.

The 1042 has great traction. No problem getting all the power to the ground. The 480 95 50's are a huge traction boost over the 480 80 50's.

The 1042 is the quietest and smoothest ride I have ever driven. I like the traction system that engages the front end as needed. No more worry about front end engagement or rabbit and turtle with the CVT tranny. Now have over 150 hours with flawless performance.

This tractor is a pleasure to drive.

Put up a pic of this 35 shank parabolic ripper. I think the last para plow we pulled was five shank. Glad to hear you like the tractor.

My parabolic deep ripper is made by Roll-o-cone in Tulia , Texas. I have 3 of them. 2-21 shanks and 1-25 shank. I plow about 1 ft deep in these sandy loam West Texas soils.

Sorry , I have never posted a picture on this site. I will take a picture next time and try to put it on this site.

My 1042 is currently pulling a 48 ft - 96 shank Roll-o-cone field cultivator. I am incorporating my yellow herbicide for cotton.

I was just at a meeting of our local Fendt dealer. They mentioned how it could out pull a track machine. I was all about ballast and weight transfer and computerized control of slip on front and back. I was surprised. How much weight and how is it ballasted? Do you have the big block weight out front.? There isn't much to the new tranny , Cvt for the front and back. It wouldn't be 2' X 4', for 500hp If it works well they might do the same for the 900's they said and a CVT for the 700's track machine.
