South west of Winnipeg MB | We had a 25 foot ih can't remember the number it was junk had to unhook to put in transport hated it then got a case ih 730 that was a great swather took about 2 minutes to put in transport or take out. I know they made a 25 foot not sure of others you can get them cheap now.

Redickville, Ont | We have 18' pull type its internation I think there all made by same company. Ours doesn't have nice hook up where you just fold it out hyd. Couple neighbours went west and got them years ago. He cut it down from 20' cause he didn't have enough combine to run it. We bought it of him later. Work good if crop standing. Biggest problem we had it was if you had big crop of straw which we do, there wasn't enough space between windows to drive. We narrowed 60hp tractor in to get threw but some years you could only be one round ahead combine. If your running 1 ton or 1.5 ac wheat or barley at 5 4x5 bales ac works fine. But 2 ton at 7 or 8 bales ac you got problems. Still have it bought 4995 with moco and then found honeybee st21 to fit it so parked the pull type.

NW VA | We use them for soft dough barley silage. Common sizes are 25 and 30 ft, we also have a 21, haven't seen too many 18's. Edited by JLynn 2/9/2017 08:57

Strathcona, mn | 18 and 21' are harder to come by. 25-35' are more common. We still use them to cut perennial ryegrass. The ones made by macdon under various names are very well designed swathers. You don't have to unhook to fold from transport to field and back. Can be had with either pickup or. At reels. Classifieds in nd have numerous ones listed usually.

I have a15 foot International 75 that Dad ought new back in the 70's when we were in a 50-50 small grain corn rotation. Still use it every year as I plant a little jag of oats for cattle feed and straw. Pretty simple little machines that don't give much trouble, nice to windrow the oats a little green and let them ripen in the windrow before the oats breaks down and goes flat. SW Minnesota | I had an 18' John Deere 580 for 4 seasons. Looked just like the IH 75 pictured above. (Both of these machines were made by MacDon.) Simple machine, did a good job, even in downed oats after I added a bunch of Gaterman lifting guards. The end transport on these machines gets to be kind of a pain after awhile, so after last season I sold my 580. (It was on Craigslist for less than 1 day before it sold). Then I put a Wanted ad in the North Dakota and Northern Minnesota Craigslist, looking for a nice 18 to 21-foot pull-type swather that was a newer style with the type of end transport that you don't have to unhook the swather from the tractor. Had quite a few calls - many of them with very nice machines that were stored inside. I ended up with a real nice shedded 21' MacDon swather that I hauled home from a farmer about 40 miles SW of Grand Forks. Can't wait to try it out this summer! Basically, 90-95% of the pull-type swather out there were made by 2 companies - MacDon and Hesston. Doesn't matter if its a John Deere, IH, Case-IH, Owatonna or whatever - these companies farmed out their swather manufacturing to one of these two.

North End I-15 | in 1980 I bought a new (almost had 50 hours) Ford 4600 with loader and a New Versatile 24' pull type swather . Used it for many years . Good combination . Cost less than a SP swather . Still have the Ford. Eventually went to a 30SP . The Versatile was easy to road . I adapted a hyd. cylinder on the tongue that could swing the hitch . Could road it with tongue Pivoted towards the center of header. header had to be lifted to full height to clear tongue . Wish I had taken pictures .

central ND/SD border | There are many on tractorhouse, just not a separate category and hard to figure out which models are swathers and which are conditioners; most are conditioners http://www.tractorhouse.com/listings/farm-equipment/for-sale/catego...

ND | I believe Macdon & Renn built the pull types. The JD, IH, MF & Renn itself had the harder to transport swathers like the IH 75, JD 580 etc. Macdon had the JD 590 model & the CIH 8250 & Macdon had their name on one. Owatonna had their own pull type, & I don't believe Hesston had a pull type grain swather but they did however have self-propel.

NE ND | Like 4930 said they are all over up here. I have a 30' JD 590, still use it every year. Some years quite a bit, some years little. This year, 45 acres only. I have a newer 25' Macdon. It will do double IMO in the same time, far, far more productive. (IMG_3627.JPG) Attachments ---------------- IMG_3627.JPG (131KB - 257 downloads)

S.E. Iowa | I have a Hesston 1200 {I think} works ok but we have had such crappy weather the last few years haven't had great luck with it. Hesston made them for Case and maybe Deere too. It is a tool to have but hope you don't need it. Mine doesn't work well on weedy green stuff which come as a result of crappy weather!
