Looking to rebuild my single disc fertilizer openers and here are my 3 options..
1. John Deere $43.11
2. Shoup $39.08
3. IR $31.00

Just Curious what quality the Shoup and IR discs are, we always replace Deere with Earth Metal blades once they are worn.

I've had bad luck the last few years with Shoup opener blades and closing disks.  (CIH planter).    Those cheap Chinese bearings don't last very long.   I went back to buying CIH and getting them when they have their spring sale.

I've used the shout for a while. The Deere are said to be made heavier. For us, I'd change them regular enough that it wouldn't matter.

Ingersoll Rand for sure, anybody who professionally rebuilds air seeders uses them. Needham has good information on pros and cons of using wider thicker blades.

Pretty sure the opener blades I got from Shoup for my 750 drill were Ingersoll. Patrick

Got new openers from Shoup last year, they were stamped Ingersoll and didn't make it through they year before the bearings started going out. Bad experience here, tried to save a few bucks, was going to call and complain but i was afraid they'd send me 48 more!

That's what they would do.   I complained about the closing disks and they sent me more.   Some new ones are laying in the shop yet.   Afraid to use them because they will lock up.

This is just the disk on the fertilizer opener...no bearings attached. 16" diameter, 2.5" pilot, 3.5" bolt circle.

With just blades I think you will be ok with Shoup but I also been having bad bearings in the seed disk for deere planters. I had a deere set that went 2 years and a shoup set that did not make it a year before the bearings were out. They did give me my money back on the ones that were bad but they only had 1500 acres on .

Are you no-till and running side-band fert openers?  That seems to be a recipe for destroying brgs in the seed opener blades, due to uneven loading (soil has been loosened on one side, but not the other).  Also, have a look at your seed-tube guards, since they provide the backstop against blade flex, which also stresses bearings.
