Mn
Has anyone ever added an aftermarket rolling basket/harrow on to a field cultivator? Was looking at a flex till system for a caseih 4300.

I had always wanted to add one to my 4800 but was told it wasn't heavy enough. I've got a 300 gallon tank on mine and finally broke the hitch last year. I'm sure the basket would add negative tongue weight and on my 4800, the tongue is the weak point. I know the 4300 is heavier. I've seen JD 980's with rolling baskets on them. I ended up buying a crumbler to pull behind mine. Not ideal but oh well. I had looked at Flex till baskets for field cultivators when I bought my basket for my 527B. They were the ones that cautioned me on the 4800 not being heavy enough. Maybe they have changed their opinion.

Put a hitch on your cultivator and pull a basket or rolling harrow or what ever you prefer. We put a hitch on our old field cultivator and have pulled a crowfoot roller for 30 years. That way you can easily change what you pull if you want.

We added one to our old 980 it worked great. I wish on our new one we would have went to a tow one that way if the field is a little sticky u can understand hook it and just use the diggers harrow.

The John Deere field cultivators with factory rolling baskets have heavier hinges on the wings than those without rolling baskets.

We use to have one on a Case IH 4800. Never had any issues. That was a Remlinger.

I put a remlinger3 row spike followed by a basket. It replaced5 rows of spikes. It is a better finishing set up. Glad I did it. This is on a JD980.

I have a case 4300 with a mounted basket. Took off a 5 bar harrow and added the single basket with 3 bar harrow.
It does a better job than it originally did, but my fathers 4300 with pull behind basket is better.
