Fayette Co, Iowa | I'm in the process of looking to buy a red ball fertilizer set up for a 2011, 1770nt, 16 row. I'm set up for 2x2, with a 500 gallon tank in the center. Where do you guys mount the glass ball mounting brackets? 8 on each wing? Or 16 in front of tank closer to the naked eye? How much am I going to roughly spend, and where are some good places to buy from. I'm located in northeast Iowa

Morris, IL | I would not route your hoses out of route just to get them closer to eye of sight. Seeing them from the cab isn't as big a deal as you think. But getting hoses longer then needed does do some damage, it slows down the system so it turns on slower and starts up slower. I would put something white or yellow behind them.
Well i guess that picture doesn't really help but they really are pretty easy to see on a 12 row out 2/3-3/4 the way to wing.

Michigan | A 24 row on the wings will be further away than a 12 row. Put them on hitch in front of tanks close enough to cab so you can see them well. Distance from gauges to opener doesn't matter as long as you have orfices at every row.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | L&D has a white plate quite similar to the picture. I have a 24 row with Wilgers for fertilizer and spray. There are two sets of 12 on each side of the planter. With auto-steer, it is very easy to turn around and check each set. Without auto-steer I used to try to use a mirror on my 12 row which had them all in the middle.

Jersey Shore, PA | Our starter ones are right behind the tractor cab and the N ones are on each wing on a 16 row. Both are pretty easy to see if the sight glasses are clean. I usually spray them a couple times/day with some type of cleaner to help with that. Mine are older sight glasses too though. Agree with Ted too........autosteer is nice for watching these. |

| That is why these are mounted where they are so a quick glance in the in cab mirror lets you know things are ok. |

Grabill, Indiana | We are in the same position with our 12 row. Currently each row is plumbed directly off of a common supply line that runs the width of the planter. It appears that adding a bank of 6 flow meters on each wing of the planter makes the most sense, but we are not completely set on that idea yet. Regardless of what we do we will have to add a lot more hose than the current system uses. |
