Middle Tennessee | No load the pto will not latch (as I call it) happened all of a sudden. I have the manual and they talk about over centered. It that what keeps the in cab control latched??? You can hold the control rod on the back and it will go in.

Toby If the spool pulls up to engage the PTO the linkage should over center to hold the engaged position. If the spool pushes down it is held in the engaged position by a hydraulic detent mechanism. A pressure test is necessary to see if adequate pressure is available to hold the spool in the engaged position. (should be at least 215 psi at PTO speed) Does the PTO engage if you hold the handle in the engaged position?

WC IL | Did the linkage become disconnected somewhere? Can't remember exactly how that goes together, mine came apart where it attaches to the lever once, seems like a cotter pin fell out and let the rod come out of the end of the lever. |

South west of Winnipeg MB | Is the rod on back moving when you move lever in cab sound like linkage came apart or maybe out of adjustment. |

west central Iowa | If rod is pulling up in top of PTO unit, but nothing starts. That vertical rod is a two piece unit. There is a small roll pin that connects the two halves. We were able to fix on the spot by putting in correct size drill bit shank and cutting to length. It got us going anyway! |

Ravenna Ohio | I had the detent balls seize. |

Middle Tennessee | What detent balls. I think the lever is out of adjustment as I c an hold rod up at back and it works fine but open to experience . Never been IH guy but with this 1086 we are going to spray pasture and pull a batwing. It will be a perfect size to handle 800 gallos on these hills. |

Middle Tennessee | Jim it pulls up. It doesnt seem to over center so I will play with the linkage. If I stand at the back and pull up on linkage rod it works fine. How much transmission gear whine is normal on 1086!!!
Thanks

Ravenna Ohio | 3 balls in the rod sticking out. Hydraulic pressure holds engaged. Dirt and crude got to mine and they wouldn't push out to lock on. Little buggers. Easy to drop. Did mine on a cloth sheet to keep them from rolling away. Assembly pulls out the top. |

That is the later style pto only used in the last year of production. The pto valve was pushed down to engage. All the earlier style pulled up and the linkage mechanically over centered to hold valve engaged. |

Middle Tennessee | I think that is what I have. I will work on the linkage. I got it to stay in tonight but the control rod is bumping the bottom of the cab. Cab mounts look good.
