kind of makes you wonder doesn't it....but 61000 would hardly buy you a couple of used heads, an older used tractor or maybe 2/3's of a new fancy pickup just to drive down the road in.....so if the buyer is happy so am I

without a DOUBT !

there is NOT a new combine produced like that ANYMORE, and it is NEW !

with low use and good care, what will it be worth in another 20 years ?   same or more ?

Sometimes I wonder if these low houred stuff has been sitting for years or just used a couple days a year.Did they still change oil every year or did they just back it out and run it,sometimes equipment that is used more has more regular maintenance done.

It would be a good buy if it could be verified the hour meter hadn't been changed. Not saying anyone is dishonest, but I know a person that happened to and the fact that for its age, that could only be less than 20-35 separator hours a year. Machines like that are a rarity if true.

It wouldn't be to me either. A lot of money for a 21 year old combine in my opinion. Go to a bank and ask them what they would loan on it and I bet it wouldn't be that much. Whatever floats your boat.

The combine came with a 925 rigid head as well. I though about going to the sale but didn't. The guy had lots of very clean low houred equipment. That's not as high as I thought it would go but I could buy a decent 9610 for less than that....

Last week I gave $35K for a 2003, john deere 9650 STS combine, 2200 hrs,I thought that was a decent deal.

That's a great price for the seller but without Contour Master & 4WD it really gets high to add 4WD like another 22K & up here you'd need it. Would not want to be without CM either-if you've never had it -your missing it & you can't add CM. CM makes a big difference even in flat pancake land like here.

After having a 9600 you couldn't give me a JD walker combine even if it was new. Rotors dominate our area anymore. Good for the seller but seems high for a plain jane model.

I went to sale, didn't take long before that machine went over my set price. Your meter is for real, combine looked hardly used. Header looked like its never seen a drop of rain before. All large equipment I thought went for a premium on this sale

Is that the original touch pad ?

I didn't think 9500 could have a feeder house speed read out.

Many 9500s had 10 series tough pads put in as an update.

After about '92 or '93 they had the digital feeder house speed readout on the display. That is not a 10 series display or it would have the dual function display.

Are these machines very reliable or are the straw walkers more favorable for certain crops or conditions?

It's possible. Have a 9870STS that I put about 50-60hrs a year on. Dealer wouldn't put anything in it on trade a few years back so just kept it for soybean machine and backup for S series. May not put any hours on it in 2017 as will be 90% corn

I know what Arkansas combines that spent most of their time slopping around in rice paddies look like. No thanks, even at $9250 I'll pass.

Not worth it to me. 61000 can currently buy a lot of combine. Add another 500 hours to that machine and its in the 30K price plus 20 -30k for its first rebuild at current pricing.

Its a nice looking machine, but any machine can take a rock, run dirt, mice issues, or need work not seen, heard, or felt until its run. I wouldn't have gone over 36k for the package. Age starts to factor more then hours at a certain point. Best way to maintain a piece of equipment is to use it.

No 4x4, no CM, no yield monitor, some fresh paint, if those weren't desired, a 15 to 20K machine with 3k hours would have been just fine.

I purchased much more,(machine, 2 heads, carrier, 1500 hrs) much newer for much less just last month.

To each their own, if seller and buyer are pleased, what does it matter.

At 500 seperator hrs. there is no way it should need 15 to 20k spent on it in another 500 hrs. With proper care, those machines will run to 2000 seperator hours without much more than routine maintenance. At least mine did.

A cherry late model 9500 with 1500 to 2000k seperator hours will bring $35 to $45k around here, depending on options. It's hard to beat a good walker in small grain crops, especially the straw quality. Lots of straw in our area, people love walker straw for their horse bedding.

A $15 to $20k 9500 is almost a salvage machine in our neighborhood. You won't buy anything but junk at that price, here.It would be a rotted, faded, wore out Arkansas rice machine that ain't worth looking at.

If you can find me nice late model 9500 combines with 1000 seperator hours for $30k, I'll buy a whole boatload of them. A real nice late model 9500 with 1000k seperator hours is a $50000 machine here, easy.

For that kind of money you can buy two nice L2 or L3 Gleaners with heads and a Peterbilt and a Timpte to haul it away... :)
