Lapel, In | Have no choice but to buy another combine now. Dropped the old 7720 into a septic tank this afternoon.(long story)Tore the rear axle out from under it. Wrecker the rear hood, straw chopper, chaff spreader and who knows what else. Didn't want to buy another being so close to retirement. Thought about going to Everett's sale today. Guess I should have.9510/2000 hours $56,000. Local dealer has a 9550/1500hours @$90,000. A good 9500 is more than I need for the acres, but they are hard to find. Is a 50 series with comparable hours to a 10 series worth $20,000 more ?
9610 4WD/1200 hours at a CIH sounds like the best deal at $69,500. Never liked to buy anything Deere from another brand dealer. You think it could be a lemon ? |

| Have 9610 & 9650W. Main difference is cab controls / corner display. Clean grain elevator is different design and wider in the 50 series (not sure on 95xx). Either will be a big step forward from a 7720. 50 series has more electronics to deal with, had main board go out in off season (lightning?), and have heard of others with similar problems. Price wise, can't answer your question, but 50 series walkers are getting hard to find and bringing a premium (around here at least). May be better resale when retirement comes up, but basically same capacity. 9610 will be a big step up, probably need bigger head, etc... to keep it full. |

Leesburg, Ohio | Although Jake is right about somewhat more electronics, we actually had alot more trouble with computer cards on our 9410 than our 9550. None so far in three seasons in the 9550...it was two years old when we got it. Lots more power, but going from a 9410, that is expected. Cab and controls are nicer, corner post readouts are nicer, especially the three line tachometer...we can see mph, engine rpm, and cylinder rpm at the same time now, or whatever else you want. Bigger clean grain elevator is good.
On the downside, seems like the bubble auger wears faster, and the loadout auger seems slower than the 9410, but maybe the 8 row corn head has alot to do with both of those issues. |

south east SD | Had a JD 6600 POS,6620 small but OK,7720 great machine worked on it seems time to time every year, 9500 not bad under powered,9510 very good machine good power still worked on it time to time,9550 Best combine we have owned has never stopped in the field 4 years I have run it!! Got contour Master on it and it plain just runs!! But back to your question it is probably worth that in today's market but that is more than I gave for mine 4 years ago and it only had 350 hours on it. I traded a 9510 with 1250 hours on it to a 2001 9550 with Contour Master and Green Star yield monitor for $43000. It was after the season was over ( DEC. ) And they paid cash for it to sell and no one was buying so I made the offer and they took it. Still today I think it was a great buy. |

Beresford SD | 3rd year on the 9550 here, got it at 1100 hr. Traded a 9400 with 15 yrs use. 9550 has a lot of plusses, some enhancements to cab and controls, more power. The 9550 will eat crop faster than an earlier machine in its class, more grain going through equals more wear on a per hour equivalent. That may be old news to some folks but we are doing a fair amount of fixing on things which I thought should be good until 2000 hours, the previous owners kept the machine busy. The 9550 with 1500 hrs you are looking at might need a good inspection and some questions asked to see what has been done to it. |
