Have run a Demo here for 4 days now. Anyone have an opinion or experience with the 8700 Tractors ?

The Internet

We had one of the first 8680's, that got traded for an 8690 which got traded for an 8737. They seem to have got better as time passes. There was never any issue of performance, the first one certainly had some reliability issues, which credit to Agco they seemed keen to resolve and not leave us stranded.

I don't drive it, but it seems to go out in the morning and come home at night with just scheduled services.

They have been pretty solid. That base tractor came out in 2009 and has been getting updates since then. The earlier units had their quirks and issues that are well documented on here, but the later 8600 series were pretty good and now the 8700 have some nice updates and all the quirks worked out of them. Can't beat the engine and tranny in them.

We have 3 8700 series tractors. 2 we bought last year. Leasing another this fall which we will buy after harvest most likely. Had to put a new motor in one last winter because of oil consumption issues. We have our little quirks here and there, but they have been good tractors. So far they seem to be better than the 8600 series tractors. We have 2 8735's and one 8737. We have decided to just buy 8735's as the 8737 does not seem to have any more power than the 8735 so why pay the extra for a number change. It is too bad they did not put the 9.8L 7 cylinder motor in the 8737. We demoed a Challenger MT775E with that motor and it was a lot more machine than either or 8737 or 8735.
