Near Richmond, IN | On our 2366, the rear rotor gear case support broke. It's like a large upside down U piece made out of angle iron with an eye bolt that attaches to the gear case and through this piece which is used to adjust the gear case to get the rotor belt and pulleys in the proper relationship. Well my support broke and the gear case slid to the left. Everything seems to work ok right now as long as I don't change rotor speed. But the problem is to fix it looks like an all day job to get it out of there. The pin through the eyebolt won't come out without removing a piece at the head of it to make room. Some large bolts that attach the bracket to the gear case don't have enough room to be removed either without taking off the driven pulley on the rotor (or so it appears right now) Lots of removing things just to replace this support bracket. Just wondered if anyone had done this and knew of any easy way to do it or a shortcut. Looks like a lot of things have to come off and out of the way just to get this upside down U off of it. If my picture shows up, it's #2 in the diagram. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Texas panhandle | If you take the belt off you can slide the torque sensing unit out far enough to get those bolts out behind it that hold the gear box in place to tighten the belt. I've never had one out and I've never paid attention but if it holds that rotor gear box up you are going to have a hard time getting it back in there without a hoist. Sorry I'm not more help I'm sure someone on here has done it before.

EC IL | We were able to buy some time when ours cracked by welding the best I could with it in the machine. When we finally replaced it we found the piece it sits on was cracked too and other bolts missing that we could not see, which is what lead the gearbox support to crack I believe. That's been a couple years ago and it's been fine since. Sorry I don't remember any tricks but it was a heck of a project. (IMG_3319.JPG) (IMG_3318.JPG) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Near Richmond, IN | We'll probably have to get it out the same way you did since we don't have a hoist, but do have a good forklift. I'm hoping it hangs together long enough to finish harvest first.

NW Iowa | We replaced several of those on 2388's on the wheat harvest. Two of them broke when the machines had only 400 or so hours on them. That was in 98 and my memory is a little foggy but we did the whole job out in the field without hoists. If I remember right a plank across the engine bay and a ratchet strap was what we used as a lift. Was not a pleasant job.

Near Richmond, IN | Mine (original) has a poor job of welding on the two brackets that hold the extended piece the gearbox adjuster bolts to. Welded on one side of each piece. If my new one is like that I'm welding it on the other side of each piece before I put it on.
