Saw this online, checked the Rome site, no info at all. No specs as of yet.

Is it just me or does that pic look photoshoped? How does it turn? Doesn't appear to articulate. I call BS.

This was an ad at the farm progress show. Look up big tractor power on Fb. They took the pic.

I think with the emissions exemtions on 750 HP and larger, I bet a 750 hp 4wd with no emissions crap would sell well, but that is my possibly wrong opinion. :)

I don't think you are wrong at all. Plus when has any one ever said " ahh that's plenty of power!!" Maybe my thinking is wrong on this but you'd think it'd be fairly fuel efficient. Shift up throttle back while pulling a 60 foot fc.

Yup, you're right, but even in the comments someone mentioned the pic being photoshopped. My question is, if this is true and it is being released in 2017, why is it that there is NO info on it on the Internet or otherwise? It's fall of 2016 already!

Are they just rebuilding existing Buds? I ask because the picture shows a Series 3 not the Series 4 which was the last models produced.

Why would they use the older specs of the Series 3s and not the newer 4s? The 4s are suppose have a better hinge according to Ron Harmon. Only thing I can think of is they photoshopped that picture just for advertising purposes.

It's a one way tractor.... no auto steer required.... there is no turning.  haha

I certainly see what ya mean.... I've not read the lower comments, so perhaps it is real.... but going by the pics, it does look like a rigid, 4 tracked machine.

I would presume that if they had a finished one to take a picture of they would have had it there at the show instead of just a picture. At this point all I bet they have is paper and maybe a pile of parts.

That would be quite a tractor. Hate to know what it weighs and if you ever got it stuck how'd you pull it out. Quite a beast forsure. I thought only Case and now Deere had Quads , now in the last month I come across two more brands. The Bud and I just crawled around an MTS recently and they have a Cat C18 (18 liter) capable well into the 600s if not 700 hp Looks like quite a well built tractor also...

That window for above 560 kilowat non genset mobile engines is closed in 2016. Tier 4 required next year.

Ran the MTS at a local construction show. Story I got was a guy in Iowa orders a versatile with less engine and tracks. The tranny is actually a cat 18spd. Then he makes his own track system and installs the C18's. I believe it weighs around 60k and is built for pulling big pans. Had a 27 yard behind it at the show.

Don't forget the Versatile Delta Track. Around here a tracked tractor is a fact of life to pull the big loads in the hills. They do things a wheeled tractor would never dream of doing.

Yep you are all right it basically starts out as a stripped down Versatile, I'm having trouble attaching the link here but the base weight is 64,150.  On the Versatile site they offer Cummins with 550 horse and the MTS versions come out of Elkader Iowa.

I think all farmers in my area welcome all tracked tractors and welcome the competition just to help keep price in check. Just need to have service also to keep them running.

Clearly the Photoshop is just to act as an attention grabber for the sign. The photoshop is such a hack job I can't believe anyone thinks that's even remotely close to what a new tractor would look like.

I've thought before that someone should build kit tractors like Big Buds that have a huge open engine compartment that a farmer could put whatever power plant in to. They could sell more than a few that way, and it would get around emissions

I can see a lot of advantages to a kit tractor, namely reliability and power, but I doubt initial cost would be one. And, what about parts and service?

The only reason we need dealers for parts and service on most farm equipment is because the manufacturers build it with a lot of parts that only they supply. Some equipment, like Big Bud tractors and Versa baggers are built with a bunch of off-the-shelf engines and truck parts. You can get most of the parts and service you need at any good independent diesel truck shop.

Just find a cratered out Big Bud or Wagner.  The frames are built wide open like you said.  I know a guy who took his 1959 Wagner TR 24 similar to this one http://www.wagnertractors.com/images/sred_wagner01.jpg and rebuilt it with a N14 cummins and powershift transmission.  He put a nicer cab and GPS on it too.  Made it a nice tractor.

The guy in Iowa is a company called MTS.
The C18 engine and Versatile's Delta track system are installed by Versatile at their factory.
The transmission is a Cat 16-speed, with a few tweaks, compared to what is in Versatile's ag tractors.
Tractor weighs around 64,000 lbs to pull 30+ yard scraper pans.

Would love to have one on the farm without all the extra steel ballast bolted to it along with PTO and 3-point.

The TA22 transmission was originally rated at 525 hp. and 1313 lb-ft according to a CAT brochure that Versatile was giving out. I wonder what has been done to push the rating up that much.

I'm guessing this will be a winner among the construction folk as well for scraper application. Will be interesting to see if it will be a success business wise and how many folk really want a low tech tractor in their operations.
