Northwest Ohio
Tossing around the idea of purchasing a Massey Ferguson 820 Disc 26'. Would be nice to have around.
What are some pros & cons? What is a good price to buy one for in good working condition? (nothing broken and needs no repairs)

Thanks

we  ran  a  24'  820  for  a lot of years.   Nice  medium weight disk.   We got it used,  and   I don't remember ever having to  weld anything.. or seeing any extra  welds.  edit;  I remember now that we had to weld up a couple of  gang supports..  smacking  rock hard  irrigation wheel tracks  is   a little   rough on any disk.      Those  supports are  stamped  plate,  and  where they are bent to fit the frame is  a pretty  harsh bend to make..

Bearings seemed  adequate..  they use  flange type mounts.   I recall now that the hitch never  needed  beefing up.

I dunno price wise,   if  it's  got  really good  blades   and bearings, hoses, tires,  cylinders  don't show signs of leaking..  and  the  lift saddle/landing gear tube isn't  all ate up...  up  around    $  2000?

Previous owner    had it set for his tractor,  and  took us awhile to  get the  crank  working to get it leveled.

Does it have the rock flex standards? We have a 21' that was purchased new in 1977 without rock flex standards (weren't available yet). Put them on a few years later when they offered them. Would break the regular ones if you hit a bigger rock. Added a used 25' in the eighties that already had rock flex. Disked more then because we did more tillage, but still have both. Besides the standards, only flaw is the shortest spool on one side of the bearings (front gangs) can crack at the corners and need attention when changing bearings. As good a disk as was made at the time. No frame problems. Can get wear on the wing adjustment linkage but not a huge deal.
Check Tractorhouse for prices , but all that I see on there I think are too high. Condition makes so much difference.
