Subject: New concave for Lexion

Red River Valley
It's time for us to replace the concave in our 585R. I am interested in replacing it with either a Sunnybrook or an HHS concave because I like the ability to change out the box sections to match the crop and conditions, both Sunnybrook and HHS now offer this as an option. We raise a little wheat, soybeans (many of them are natto and large seeded food grade, so splits and cracks are an issue to keep in check), and corn. Though we would probably be considered a 50/50 corn/soybeans operation.

Has anybody ran both or have a strong option one way or the other on which one they like?

I am also considering putting in a Sunnybrook cylinder as I also need to replace the current cylinder rasp bars. Has anybody had a bad experience with this cylinder? Almost everything I have read makes it seem as if this is the Cat's meow for the Lexion.

Thanks.

Hello
I would caution you on the sunny brook cylinder.
I think it's a very good product and Make the machine very productive in tough conditions and a beast in green stemed soybeans .
The down side is that it will Crack corn!! The machine is much harder to set in corn and somtime you just can't get it right. If corn isn't in your cropping plans go for it ! Other wise I would hold off. In fact I have a sunny brook I'm taking out of a lexion 760.

Mid-Missouri

That is the first I have heard that the S.B. is hard to set in corn. Care to expand on what the difficulties are?

I think the S.B. cylinder is a fine piece of work. It is much better than the standard open cylinder IMO.

I would favor the HHSparts concave over any that are available.

Here is what I did but it would be easier to pay for one from a builder than for me to build another one!

Very nice, it would be great if claas made their concave as versatile as that. We have problems even in dry corn with husks hanging up in our N18 concave which is why i would really like the HHS concave but I'm worried about HRS wheat, we don't have much but I would like to raise more. Looking price wise given the current exchange rate the Sunnybrook is very tempting.

We are running a HHS in a 560R. In corn we run full round bar, We just finished wheat and rye yesterday and it had a amazing sample in the tank. we was running the smooth concave grates that originally came with the combine under the APS cylinder with the disawning plates closed and soybean grates in the front of the main concave and the rest of it was round bar. The only issue I found with the HHS concave is sliding the grates out the side. Yours will be easier with the tracks. I had to put the forklift tight to the wheel and use a ratchet strap to pull them out.
