We have two 8830 MFWD, each with a little over 6500 hrs, and they have been great tractors. The steering system as a whole is a weak point, IMO. The APL integrated ram likes to leak and the steering motors do at times too. The steering motors need to be replaced as they are prone to leaking after rebuild as well. The engines in these tractors are sleeveless and if the coolant is not kept in good shape, its been known to cause electrolysis problems. Some parts are getting hard to find for them; I'm literally picking up an obsolete part that was shipped to our dealer from parts depot today. We also wanted to put a steering wheel auto steer set up on it but no one makes a kit for this tractor as the knuckle for the wheel swivel is in the worst possible location for that. These are just my experiences and gripes.

BUT if it appears to be well maintained and for a decent price, I wouldn't be afraid of it. We bought one of them new and the other used, and it was used hard, but is still running great.

Don't mean to hijack post, but i'm still running a TW-10 with the same base 401ci. block. I did have a catastrophic failure due to cavitation of my original block. After learning that valuable lesson, the tractor continues to run well. I spray with it now (6500hrs.) I do have a Trimble autosteer kit on the steering wheel, that works fine on it. It's called the Steiger kit, as they have the similar tilt wheel mechanism.

I was under the impression that the TW wheel tilt was slightly different than the 30 series, that the TW's articulated further down the steering shaft than the 30's which are directly under the wheel. Are they in fact the same? When you say you installed the trimble kit was it the EZ steer or EZ pilot? Thanks

I have one on the mixer that the hour meter will be going around a third time soon! Great on fuel. when you change oil dump in a bottle of coolant conditioner. tie rods can be spendy to replace. Transmissions are bullet proof if they are never ran low on oil. Pto brake is a bit of work if it is bad but rarely an issue. Keep an eye on the fan clutch I had one let loose took radiator out. have since switched to the lock out hubs on my tw and30 series tractors and my genesis series tractors. Keep a spare lift pump if you plan on using this tractor everyday. They're not expensive and are easy to change. Ac works really well on them (at least both of mine do!) 2 doors are really nice longer wheelbase makes them ride good.

This is the "Steiger" bracket for my TW. You've adapted yours to be the same type of mount. If I take it off & grind a small groove on the right side, my tilt wheel would function again. I'm not sure how different the "30" series steering columns are to these TW's.
