Wondering if a set of single mounted rolling baskets would be too heavy for a Massey Ferguson 820 disk?

I have never seen it, but I don't see MF disks often. I would be suspicious if the hitch is heavy enough, mostly the springs that support the weight from front to back. We have had trouble with the spring on the back side of the center support breaking under the stress. Disk still works even if a coil is broke ,but the springs could be bigger. Also, on our 25', more wear is in the 3 pin points of the hitch apparently and when you lift much above just out of the ground, it wants to flop to the back, over center. The 21' we have doesn't seem to do that.
We put hitches on and pull a crow foot packer with no problems though.

Pretty good disc IMO. I have done one pass in the spring over stalks and been impressed. I've always gone over it again with a FC, but I have always wanted to pull or mount a Rolling Basket behind.

Grain trader, not to hi-jack. But do you know the differences from a 820 MF disc to a 520? Would like to get a relativly inexpensive disk to run through stalks in fall. Seem very reasonable. Plan is to run shallow, bust stalks up. Then "no-til" beans in spring. Would use a cover after discing. Looking at 18' or so.

Edit, didn't realize darn was in there before ground.

520 s are much lighter weight. The 620 and 820s share the same parts mostly..... Only difference is the flex wings the 820 has compared to ridged of the 620. 520s are ok for a non wing model but not when wings are added.

Spend the extra $1000-2000 and get an 820 for fall IMO. For its age, an 820 is just a great disk I think.

Should find one for $5000 or less
