Always after planting, header rides closer to ground and cutting parts last longer.

What crop? I roll all my no till beans I. Corn stalks and wheat stubble usually. I've never rolled small grain planting. Corn I usually don't roll either. More concerned with rocks and smooth surface at harvest time for beans. Roll all after planting. On tilled ground if it happened to get too mellow,we sometimes roll before planting to firm it so it plants better.

I've got some corn to replant. I'm blaming some of that on rolling corn stalks before I planted it. You can find the seed in the stalks, if the stalks where standing they wouldn't have been in the way.

How do you keep the corn stalks from blowing away and drifting?

Roll right after planting soybeans (within 72 hrs) if possible. And there are a lot of bigger farmers rolling there corn/corn ground behind there vertical till or finishers to give them a smoother ride for there planter = plant faster?
