S WI | I'm asking this to help out a neighbor of mine. He purchased a new to him JD 7000 planter with Kinze brush meters. He wants to seed 42 pounds of the soybeans he has per acre. I'm not sure what plate he has installed or the seed size of his beans at this time. He needs to know what sprocket combination to run to achieve this rate. Does anyone have access to a chart, or some knowledge I can pass on to him? Thanks in advance!

SE MN Still in Pothole Country | Normal bean disk has 60 cells. Corn meter has 12 fingers. Corn pop setting for 28000 gives soybean pop of 140K. If meters in good shape. Large seed size of about 2300 per lb and bigger require 48 cell disc. Then multiply by 4. Use graphite sparingly.

Central-ish KY | Here's the chart I use. If you have 48 cell Kinze plate, multiple by 4. If you have the 60 cell (most common) multiply by 5. The chart is for seeds per acre, not pounds. (7000 corn chart.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 7000 corn chart.jpg (180KB - 1279 downloads)

southern MN | He will need to know the seeds per acre, not lbs desired, and then use the corn chart as others explain. Paul

Floyd County, Iowa | When I had my 7000 finger planter, I had Kinze bean meters for it. Kinze meters will plant at 5x the corn population for any given transmission rate. If planting corn at 30000 population, the Kinze units will plant 150000 beans/ acre at the same transmission sprocket setting.

McLeod County | can you use the same driven and driver sprockets?

Central-ish KY | I'm not quite sure what you mean but I use the same sprockets. If you have the old 2040 sprockets, take the number of the sprockets in the chart and divide by two (a 26 sprocket in the chart will be a 13 on your planter).
