I have John Deere 2210 field cultivators with "knock on" sweeps. They are so light duty. They wear out in my soils with three long days of running.

Can anybody recommend an alternative, ideally, that use the same mounting so as that all those mounting brackets don't have to be changed?

I guess we could change the brackets, but if there was a solution that used the existing mounts, that would be so easy.

Thanks in advance.

Nichols, you'll have to change the brackets.

They've lasted better than the deere in our sandy soils.

Assuming you have the Perma-Loc sweeps then no, there aren't any other ones that will fit those brackets. We are doing a test on our 726 sweeps with Perma-Locs on 1 wing and Nichols knock on sweeps on the center section and other wing. There is no comparison, the Deere sweeps are already looking bad. Go buy some Nichols sweeps for it, they send all the knock on adapters for free. It's time consuming switching all the adapters but well worth it. Make sure to use a good corded impact and longer bolts if you need them when you switch to the Nichols. We were using a 18V DeWalt impact and some of them are coming loose again and/or the bolts weren't long enough. Save yourself time and a lot of money and switch to Nichols, Deere sweeps leave a lot to be desired.

We have been using Case's copy of the Nichols but we bolt. Split the field cultivator first year we tried them and they lasted just as long. Not sure about Case's knock on? The previous owner of my field cultivator had Nichols that were hard surfaced in the tire tractors so they would wear evenly.

This spring has been really hard on sweeps, hope today's rain helps. Hired man heated and dropped two sweeps in oil, he was trying to hardsurface. Was he wasting his time, we painted the back side of them red so we can keep track of them.

Have you tried Deere's new "high-performance" sweeps? I haven't used them myself, but they're supposed to last a lot longer than the old style.

Nichols last nearly twice as long as JD knock ons for me and are 2-3 bucks each cheaper. Switched to all Nichols and have no intentions of ever buying JD shovels again. The Nichols I bought this spring came with free mounts yet.
