Wisconsin | What's the good, bad, and ugly of a Deere DB84 6 way dozer blade (or any other brand for that matter) on a 329D CTL? Not planning on clearing fence lines with it. I know it's not a real dozer. Just looking to do some grade work around buildings, bins, improving driveways, ect. Looking at about $3,500-$4,500 for a blade rather than owning and maintaining a dozer for more money.

East Central Ia | They take some getting used too but on a tracked machine they can be handy. I would strongly reccomend renting or demoing one first though.

East central Indiana | We have one. Rarely use it. It's ok but not what I thought it would be. Pretty much can do what I need with the smooth edge bucket faster. Unless we're needing to roll something in a windrow. Then it's handy. Otherwise just use the bucket. Id suggest spend the money on a 4 in 1 bucket with teeth. That and a regular smooth bucket you'll be able to do anything you need mostly.

You can flip the bucket up and use the back just like a blade. Won't angle but the dozer blades for skid steers are too far out in front and hard to hold steady when trying to cut. Unless I've just been on the wrong ones

East Central Ia | I agree they are way out ahead of you ans it is still hard or impossible to see behind the cutting edge which makes them awkward. They are great for filling tile trenches though! Otherwise I would really love a heavy built snow pusher style blade for grading dirt or fill. There are a lot of times I would love something with an open bottom so I didn't have to dump the bucket. But the blade I rented was hard to keep from gouging. It would be great to have it set so it could only go an inch or two deep and then have huge shoes to hold it there. But my Cat CTL has a torsion suspension bar that compresses and makes the gouging effect worse with a blade.

Brandon, SD | They work well for doing anything on a hillside or anywhere you need the tilt, but for general leveling a bucket is faster. Had it on a bobcat s175 and it was worthless as the skid was too light. Now run The same blade on a case tr270 tracked machine and can get a lot done. Waiting for it to dry out so I can cut some drainage channels in my cattle yards. My suggestion is don't go too big or the blade will turn the skid steer if you have any kind of angle on it.

For what you want to do I think you'd be happier with a land plane, go to YouTube and search for skid steer landplane and see what all they can do. I built mine a year ago and it works awesome for driveways or grading. Texas | Never used one personally but have talked with people that have and they didn't like them and sold them. A 4-1 seems like a slick alternative.

Wisconsin | Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. Nice job on that land plane. I have a few jobs that would require the blade to turn, thats why I was hoping a blade would be my answer. A 4 in 1 would definitely be nice at times, that's for sure. I'm not sure what direction I want to go now. I guess I'll see if I can get a good enough deal on a blade to where if I don't like it, I can get my money back out of it.
