s.e. Pa | I have a single Kuhn rake now, but need something bigger. Have been looking at claas and kuhn double rotor rakes. Which do you prefer, two rotors that rake to the middle, or two that rake to the side? I've used a center delivery, and it was very nice to use, easy to use in the small odd shaped fields that we have. But in later cuttings, more than 20' of hay would be nice. What do you prefer and why? Josh

KY | Only ever used a single rotary, but my thinking on it is a double that delivers to the side means crop is being passed from one rake to the next meaning leaf loss might occur more. A double that delivers to center picks the crop up once and drops it. Just my thinking.

Central PA | I like the two rotor that rakes to the center for a round baler. I bring the the two windrows together until they touch, then the baler gets an even feed thru both sides.

NW Kansas | I'm looking at a claas liner 800 which is side. Main reason is in heavy crops like sudan or big oats I like baling one swath at a time and makes way better bale. I just want to flip the windrow over and fluff it up. Vary rarly would I put two together. If I were I would for sure have a center delivery. If you were going to use a side double to put 4 windrows together would have to rake when was really wet cause you're moving the outside windrows a long way.

I have a double rotor vicon I woulbnt own another vicon 714 Vivo if gave to me. Cheap made rake. Worst thing is back rotor where rotor gear box bolts to main frame it breaks bolts often and I think it's due to the transportation of wheels to much shock on frame. That being said I would want a rake that has decent size tires to transport not all the weight riding on the little tires. Other then poor design I love the rake as I can rake 2 single windrows 13.5 foot each or I can make a 25 foot big windrow or rake up to 50 foot in to one. My next rotor will be a 2pt hitch with rotors mounted to a main frame with big transport wheels on rear Wether it's a double side or double center rake.

North Central IN | Have a Kuhn double side delivery. It will rake two into two or two into one by moving the rotors in and out hydraulically. We rarely use it on first cutting, but we love it on second and later cuttings because you can put almost 4 into one. Mow 12' swath.

Lancaster County, Pa. | I have a kuhn 7822. Rear rotor can be moved to either side so you can do a double or two single windrows. It's not perfect for every application but it is very versatile. Also very nimble, it's a big rake that will work in small fields. I would buy the same style rake again but next time it will be a Claas.

N E Illinois | I have a 1010 krone three rotor. I can configure it to rake 20 ft, 30 ft or double back and do 40 ft or 60 ft. Well built. Does nice job . It is side delivery. With center delivery you are very limited to width you can rake.

s.e. Pa | Why will the next be claas? I have a claas tedder and kuhn rake now, both have been good and both dealers are good. I was looking at claas 650 and kuhn ga6002 rakes. These are both smaller but I think will work well behind my 10' mower. Josh

West Central Iowa | I have a 7301 Kuhn Center delivery. I cut with a 12' windrower and it works well to bring those two windrows into one. I bale my hay (no chopping) and don't have a whole lot of acres but it works for me. If I had lots of hay acres and a chopper following me, a side delivery that can put 4 windrows together would probably get more done.

Lancaster County, Pa. | The wheel assemlies and center shaft on the kuhns is a weak spot. The first time you have to replace the center shaft (shaft which the rotor rotates on and wheel assembly bolts to) you will not like your rake so much. Also, my 7822 is supposed to be a 24' rake but it will not rake 24' clean. It's a little small for behind my 12' mower if I lay the swath out wide. It would work about right behind a 10' mower. If you have more questions feel free to call seven one seven six two nine two five five two. I can talk better than type.

WC Wisconsin | If you are making dry hay that has been laid out with a tedder you may want to go for the side discharge. Otherwise you will not be able to turn over the line of hay at the center of the raked windrow. Sweeping it all to the side it at least gets picked up off the sometimes damp ground and fluffed up. Leaf loss will be a bit higher as someone else stated.
