ECIL | Looking for the pros and cons of each model. I have used an IH 183 8 row and got along well with it. Will be running a 16 row. |

Pesotum, IL | I'll be honest I'm no expert on row crop cultivators. But we have an 8 row 825 John Deere that does an absolutely wonderful job. Danish tine with hoods. We had an older version before this one that was not Danish tine and it did a so-so job. This one has been great. In fact we've hung on to it since we went to a 12 row planter. I finally talked Dad into selling it but he's been very reluctant. For what it's worth we're all red but I can't say enough good things about this cultivator.

| We had 3 183 cultivators all danish tine, had no troubles with them Got a 12 row 1830 vibra-till cultivator now that has over half original shovels on it, no problems. They are heavy built machines. I wouldn't be afraid of one. No matter what color you buy I think the only demand out they are organic farmers. Around here only one's being used are guy's sidedressing with them. |

ECIL | These are both c shank units I'm looking at. I've never used a danish tine but have been told they don't go in hard ground very well |

| You would be needing a vibra-shank or the newer style vibra-till for your heavy ground. The vibra-shank is the same as the diggers use. The vibra-till is a heavy duty s tine with tall clearance on three shanks with no problems penetrating heavy soil. The danish tine will dig hard ground with new shovels better than old dull ones. |

| I've owned a IH 133 C Shank it was terrible in hard ground. It would not take the ground.
Also I've owned a CIH 183 Danish tine and it was the best cultivator I've ever owned. No problem in hard ground. Danish tine all the way here..
I actually replaced the C shanks on the 133 with Danish tines and it worked great. |

ND | The "C" shanks on the IH are a little bigger or have more clearance than the JD "C" shank-Deere is a bit smaller in size. |
|
| |
|
ND | The "C" shank is more like a field cult shank than say a Danish tine. |
