West Central Missouri | Technically it is still a self propelled windrower
Alberta Pioneer |

Warburg, AB | How well does it work? I've considered a similar setup.

I've thought about the same. Two questions. How is roading that rig down the road with so much "nose"? Second what's a windrower like that worth when the head is shot? Self propelled units are not common in this area so I have no real experience with them. Tia

Manitoba | ive often thought that rigging up a merger to a swather drive unit like that would be great. never managed to try it yet but that pic has be thinking about it again.

Very cool! 20 yrs ago I was haying fields 20 miles apar and made a wheel rake to fit the snowplow mount on my dually flatbed. Made road travel quick. Got to the field and put the truck in low gear and just steered. Wish I had pics but no camera on the bag phone!!

Sunnyside, WA | You can buy a merger for a swather now: http://roc.ag/en/prodotti/andanatori/rt-840/

DV, NV | There's a couple Bootsma bar rakes on swathers here. They seem to get along pretty well with them. Nice for small fields and borders. dirt cheap power u its with plenty of hydraulics makes for a nice setup. As long as you're not the one driving them!
J. Sheehan |

Sunnyside, WA | Do the Bootsma rakes ride nice? I would take a newer tractor today over a swather almost any day.

DV, NV | The rakes seem to do fine. I've never driven the swather setup but it can't be that comfortable. I'd never trade my tractors and G3s for his setup. They were cheap and he has hired help on them I think.

Tia SP windrowers are common as dirt around here, and once they hit a certain age they are nearly worthless. The header will be completely shot before the tractor is.
