What do you feel is a good size for calving pens? Looking to add 4 to a existing barn thinking 8x10 or 10x10 is that big enough?

10 x 10 minimum I think. I make pens with my corral panels that are 12'. Works good.

12x12 and make sure to have one in the corner that is 12x16 for those "special" mothers

My dad's are 10x10 and he hasn't ever had any trouble. Mine are 10x12 and I like them. I feel 8x10 is going to get someone stepped on or laid on. Doesn't sound like 2' would be much but my pens look huge compared to dads.

Yeah I remember that jodan ,I'll I have to say is even the best made plans can go really bad whether you have pens or not at every place we calve we have some kind of facility but if I can avoid it the cows ,even first calvers , never see them ,cows do an awesome job of taking care of themselves ,that being said I've pulled a few calves over the years with the cow snubbed to tree or whatever was available. Lol

My Titan west calving pen is 10x10' I think, it gets tight in a hurry. We had some 12x12' pens from panels last year to shut up a heifer pair, that wasn't bad, but wouldn't be bad to go a little bigger.

We have 5 panel pen rowed up, 10x10, if a cow needs more rooom, such as twins.
We pull out a divideing panel and she now has a 10x20. They work well here.
I like them to calve out side the pens, just use the pens for mothering up and
new borns in nasty weather. Not many stay in side for more than a few days.
