| What tractor is more reliable 8400 or 8410? Looking at both with basically the same hours (5500) and condition. I know the 8410 is worth more because its newer 2001, 8400 is a 1998. I just want to know what tractor has the better track record. Thanks! |

Saronville NE | I'd prefer 8410. I had a 01 8410 and have a 99 8300. Everyone liked running 8410 better, better seat, AC, etc. We spent less on 8410 then 8300 also, both bought with about same hours used. 8410 had more hours and traded for 8430 last summer. |

ND | The 10 series has the Implement Management system built into it a good option. |

meade co. sw, ks | 8410 cab is a little nicer but the 10 will burn way more fuel doing same amount of work. |

Sunnyside, WA | Not enough different besides the seat. I prefer our 8410's over our 1999 8300, but I could care less in the big picture. Both are good solid tractors |

Fort Recovery. Ohio | We have an 8310 that we bought new with 6400hrs , been a very good tractor , with no major problems , i do not believe that a 10 series would burn way more fuel then the previous models! |

meade co. sw, ks | Well I've logged thousands of hrs in both and I know for a fact that a 8410 will burn more, noticeably more actually. Have you guys that don't believe me ran both before? |

Saronville NE | Our 8300 will use less but the 8410 would run circles around it on same size equipment, but not fair comparison between these 2 since 84 is bigger. |

South East Nebraska | We bought our 8410 new it now has just over 9k hours and just came back from yearly inspection and dyno making 295hp. We have not done anything to it except regular maintenance. My opinion talking newer tractors the 10 series is probably the best tractor Deere made. We bought a used 8400 after we purchased the 8410 and it was an ok tractor but not close to as nice as the 8410. The 8400 had very rough shifting which was common in the early ones. Deere actually put a new tranny in it when the previous owner had it and we had it apart twice. We finally traded it on and 8420. We currently have an 8410, 8420, 8345R, 8360R, and many older tractors. The 8410 still gets put on a planter every year and does some lighter tillage. If it were me I would buy the 10 regardless of fuel consumption. If you ever decide to sell or trade it you will make up the price difference. |

Westside, IA | The 8410 will burn more fuel than the 8400, has a little more hp also. It is not as snappy as the 8400 so it doesn't feel like it hauling silage but put it in the field doing tillage and you can tell the difference. Little better seat in the 10 but I switched the seat in my 8400, about the only real differences between them. They have been very reliable tractors for us
