EC IL | Looking at a couple different '09 Steiger 335's, got the build sheet on both they are pretty much identical. One has 3700hrs other one has 1500 hrs for $41000 more. Is that worth it for 2000 less hours? I plan on keeping tractor a long time, and will use for strip till and tile plow now, maybe planter down the road. These are the two best deals I have found after months of searching for units with 3 pt pto hi flow hyd and diff lock.
Are there any issues that come up as these tractors get a few hours on them to justify buying the lower houred one for more $? This will be the "big tractor" now replacing the 7140 my dad bought new 25 yrs ago that has only been in the dealers shop once and that was for a rear main. No way it will be that reliable, right?
Oh, and neither one has the red leather seat. Bummer. But I know a guy who has a Steiger with a red leather seat, maybe he would let me sit in it sometimes? |

| I would get the lowered hour one. $20/hour is cheap |

SD | I agree. If you can afford the lower hour one go for it, unless you need cash on hand for other equipment upgrades. |

Central Illinois | Dude, go low hour. And yes, you do know "that guy" and I'll bet you can get an appointment in that chair!

NE SoDak | Um.....335 for strip till & tile plow???? |
|

|
| I would buy the lowered hour one myself. P.s ask the dealer if you can install a red leather seat in their. That heated seat is awesome on a long day, lower back pain.My 350hd and 245 magnum has them both and it's niece. good luck |

Central, WI | +1 in the Red Seat! It's a great option you will regret not getting if you ever used one before. Go with the lower houred one if your budget allows and if you can also verify maintenance between the 2 are similar. If your not sure, get oil samples done. I've seen some 330's and 335's with heavy abuse need tranny repairs around 2500hours but ones with good maintenance and pure Ag use with no issues at 5500 hours. Some guys swap out a complete scrapper drawbar for an Ag drawbar before selling and this can be deceiving. How deep and what size are you planning to run tile with it? If you are running deeper runs look at getting a tile chip or you will have issue with it kicking out of gear on hard pulls, about $2500. One with good documented services is your best bet if they look similar otherwise. Make sure you have the procedures to re-calibrate these transmissions when they start shifting harder. Good Luck!

| so looking on bigiron at past steiger sales, I see them in the 100-150k range, I picked out a 335 with PTO and 3pt and 2000hrs that sold for 125k so we will say that is the 'market price' for your low hr tractor. So for 41k less, you could buy the other. I'd rather keep my 41k and buy the high hr tractor, that extra $41 will buy half the tractor! |

WI | +1 Sounds about right....in that $100 - $150K range. Probably closer to $100K side now after the 1st of the year since demand and prices were higher at the end of 2015 due to last minute section 179 buys. My neighbor sold his 335 with 3pt, pto, diff locks, hy cap pump, full auto steer, 5 outlets with 2200 hours for $107K earlier this month. I'm trying to locate the result but I saw an online auction with a loaded newer 350HD, 700 original hours, extended warranty and pretty much all the options sell for $148K last November. Given that, with the 335 being an older model and lack of the HD option, You should be looking at closer to $100K. The HD option is what you should be looking for if you want to pull a tile plow to any extent. What is the guy asking for on the lower houred one if you don't mind me asking? |

The 1500 hour tractor is at a local case ih dealer, 145K, got them down from 179000. The 3700 hour unit is also at a case ih dealer, not local and they came down to 104K.
Looking on tractor house a lot of the dealers are still asking 150-170.
CIH777, how did your neighbor sell his tractor, was that at auction? That was a good price for the buyer, wish I was there. The 350's at Richie bros in December brought 170's I think, good price but I have to draw the line, that's way to much for me!
Thanks for your thoughts! |

WI | The 335 sold privately. He listed it in the classifies for while but not many serious calls, mostly jockeys calling. He had nice equipment along with a 8950 and 9370 he sold also. Good service records from dealer. I was thinking surely it would have brought more but with low $14 milk, grain, beef and steel prices, not too many have extra cash available. No more than $115K though, a local dealer sold one setup just like it in early December, close to 2300hrs for $115k. He was originally asking $145K. I saw those 350's also that sold at Ritchie Bros. They were nice and very low houred, less than 500 hours. Tractorhouse is a good starting price but that is not what they are selling for in reality it seems. Remember, most of them are dealer prices. |

WI | Here is a link to another 350HD that sold late last year. About 4 tractors down the page....726 hours, $148K. http://www.bigiron.com/cgi-bin/mnarclist.cgi?bigiron/20150916/categ... Those ones on the Ritchie Bros. sale in Dec. were lower houred and newer and but section 179 was up in debate around that time also. Could have been another factor also. |

EC IL | Wow that tractor was at my local dealer! I did not know they used big iron. Why can't they just sell me one at that price? Maybe I should be patient. |
|

|
WI | They were probably trying to sell excess equipment and use it to test the market also. Some of my local dealers do that especially if they have a few items sitting on the lot over 1 year. If they notice a price dip on those sales compared to their original estimate they then adjust their bottom $ before the next guy comes interested in something. |
