Shelburne Ontario Canada | Hi all. Have a guy that thinks i should buy his 3288 tractor to fix polish and resell ! Well my question is - wat is a 3288 - 986? Or a 3088? More like 414-436. Or is it a 466engine? And tranny -is it the old school crash course or the newer style over center mechanic clutch pack stuff? Hydraulics any different than a 986? |

Shelburne Ontario Canada | Did all 88 have the black frame? Do the little ones have same shift thing as 5088 half breed mechanic powershift? Or is trans same as 986? Were the all red 2-2 built with the 86 series? Or why did i think some 88 seires had red tranys? |

| 3288 is essentially an upgraded 886, has the German diesel engine and the same transmission but with an electrically-actuated TA. 6388-6788 2+2s are related about the same way, upgraded 3388-3788 with an electric TA and red/black paint scheme instead of red/white. |

Shelburne Ontario Canada | Are the 88s worth more than 86series? if they basically same would u want a 86 or rather 88? I have never done much on these just really curious. |

Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana | The little 88's are somewhat collectable because there aren't many of them....the collectability is higher with the smaller ones. 3088...3288...3688.
Better tractor than a 86........not really in my opinion. |

north-central Indiana west of Fulton | I think the transmissions were like an 86 (not 50,52,&5488) in the 3 smaller 88 s,only the torque shift was electric. (Someone can correct me if that is incorrect). The trans. were all black in those but it was the later series (63,65,6788) 2+2s they switched to black. The 33,35,3788s had red trans. |

north-central Indiana west of Fulton | I think they are getting quite collectable and only get more so. Was ready to buy a 3488 a few years ago to use on our Tmr mixer wagon but it was sold before I got there. |

Shelburne Ontario Canada | Well wat this guy wants for it i thot u may all come on an say its an amazing miracle tractor that i should buy before coffee break today just to get my hands on it. But i thinkin wat he tryed to tell me is cheap will never work for my kind of business! If it was a 3400 hr magnum i would start a serious conversation, but binders over 10000$ are out of my league !! LOL |

Greene County Il. | Dave is right. A high and a low range. Electric, clutchless shift between 1-2 and clutch between 2-3,clutchless 3-4, etc. Works well.

Owensville, MO | 3288 is same basic tractor as 886. Has 358 NA german diesel at about 90-95 Hp. Same transmission as 86 series but better shifting linkage set-up. 3288 has a hydraulic trans break that is actuated when the range lever is moved to the neutral position. This helps a lot with shifting also. Hydraulics are the same as 886 but with a higher flow pump. They are 17 gpm versus 12 in the 86 series. If that tractor is truly in like new condition with 3400 hours it would easily bring over $20,000 here. especially if it has 38" rubber. Biggest thing I run into is a lot of fellas have a different opinion of what "like new" condition is than I do.

Lincoln County. NC | Small frame 88's have the PFC hydraulics like the last 86"s. As noted, same old tranny with electric shift TA.
I would not want to buy a radiator for an 88 with the hole in the middle & fan on the wrong side.
30 & 32 had the 359, 36 had the D436, not sure what the Hydro 3488 had for an engine. That's the rare one.
For me, there's nothing special or desirable about a small frame 88. But then again Dad bought a 986 and I hated it every day he owned it. |

Central Ontario | I just came in from pushing snow around with mine, after reading the other posts I was thinking I should stop using it to keep the hours down although it is getting on towards 9000 hr.The trans,pto,3pt and final drive are an updated version of a 806.I think only the 3688 had PFC hydraulics, mine sure doesn't.I thought mine had a 12 gpm pump according to the manual, seems like that the way the 3 pt lifts.Mine is a good winter tractor (starts well and heater works good). |

NC IA | Yes and to correct Rickyb from above, 30 & 3288 had gear pump open center hyd system, while 34 & 3688 have piston pump PFC hydraulics. 3488s had D-466 engine.
I have an open station no-rops 3088 with 2500 hrs, its a cute little tractor.
