W NE | I have a 8400 john deere. It has had all the parts to make it autotrac ready,(steering valve, reciever mount, armrest switch, wiring harnesses etc..) Also I have a 2600 monitor with no activations. Through john deere I estimate it would cost at least $6,500 for reciever and SF1 activation. I know I could by a used ITC receiver for around $1000, but I cant seem to come up with any used activations. Is there any other brands that I could go with that would still utilize the parts I have but not cost as much, example (trimble, agleader, outback) Or is my only option to buy a new SF1 activation. I dont need 100% accuracy just something good enough for tillage.

SE MN | You need the auto track activation on the 2600 for I believe $3,500. Others can probably clarify, but I think pretty much any JD receiver should work for SF1. If you are looking at ITC's, you might as well consider the older gen 2 as well; as long as it has the TCM (terrain compensation module) it can be used for auto steer. Here's one: http://omaha.craigslist.org/grd/5359986687.html You could also look for a complete brown box system with display, receiver and SF1 or SF2 keycard which should be able to be had for less than the $3,500 activation on the 2600.

East Central Indiana | If you stay with deere, the only activation you need is the $3500 Autotrack SF1 activation for your 2600. Any starfire ITC or 3000 receiver automatically comes with SF1. I highly recommend the 3000, much better than ITC. edit: i started typing before JD7730's post had appeared Edited by deereboy8400 12/30/2015 13:15

NoDak | deereboy8400 - 12/30/2015 13:13 If you stay with deere, the only activation you need is the $3500 Autotrack SF1 activation for your 2600. Just to clarify, the autotrac activation is just that. No more autotrac sf1/ sf2. The SF1/2 is solely to do with the receiver now. If a person has an old autotrac "SF1" activation, and they want to use SF2 or RTK, they will need to get the $250 upgrade for the autotrac activation. Hope that makes sense. You can check this by going into the receiver and looking at the activations page.

Winkler, Manitoba Canada | You could also consider this Leica unit in the classifieds. No need for any unlocks if you do not want to use the 2600. http://talk.newagtalk.com/classifieds/Classified.aspx?id=42709

Winkler, Manitoba Canada | What is for sale in that advertisement ( which I have no connection to) is a Leica Mojo RTK kit, which consists of a portable RTK base and the Rover, which can be mounted in a radio slot in the tractor. The Rover can be used on RTK in conjunction with the base, or it can be used autonamously with Glide which would be somewhat like WAAS. In your 8400, the Leica Mojo rover can simply replace the receiver, be that a 3000 or ITC and provide correction info to your 2600 by emulating a JD receiver. In this case you would still need an autotrac activation on your 2600. Alternatively, with the proper install kit the Leica Mojo rover can actually do the steering with no need for any JD screen or activation of any kind. There is a significant downside however. Leica has withdrawn from the North American ag market, and getting parts and support may be difficult if not impossible. Edited by WTW 12/30/2015 19:15

Service may be a reason to stay away from anything but john deere.
