Was wondering if anyone has pictures of splitting stands for a 2+2 IH tractor. Have one coming in shop for a clutch, and that's about the only stand I don't have. Pictures would be great or call me if ya know of anything. Thanks in advance! I have an idea what I want to build but enjoy seeing others ideas.

Been awhile but I wedged the front axle and used jack stands for the front half. And a floor jack on the back half.

I`d Like to see some pics as well. Mine needs a T/A but I`m unsure about how to go about splitting it.

I have a factory service manual and have seen the original stands but I would like to see if anyone has altered them or done something different. Heres a picture of originals.

I built a splitting stand/track many years ago. Top plate can be changed or drilled to fit tractor. Safety pins can be inserted into vertical legs to prevent collapse or allow the hydraulic jack to be removed.

It's been quite a while since we did a clutch on mine but here's what I remember. We used our IH splitting stands. Drilled a couple holes in the front of the nose for one stand. Nothing is needed at the back of the front half because it's nose heavy. Then we used a floor jack on the front of the rear half. Rolled the front away without disconnecting any of the hoses and then used the steering wheel to turn the clutch housing to the left. Put a stand under the rear also for safety then took everything off as its pointing out into the open. Was quite easy.

+1 this is how I remember doing them, when I was working at the dealership. The rear half just block up and jack like you would be doing any '86 series.

I just put my forklift forks under the side rails and hook chain to front and pull front end away as far as hoses allow. It is front heavy so put jackstand under each side as far forward as the rail is level and it will set there forever. I use a stand under the front of the ta hsg. To do a Ta job roll the front end out with Ta hsg attached. I use the forklift to pull it away and a jib crane to support Ta hsg as you split it.

When you do split it the hoses will flex enough to get apart, but you do need to remove the throttle cable from its clamps to let it slide.

Just put a jack under the back under it. On the front half my experience has show that if its low on fuel, the weight is all on the front of the front Axel. You just need a stand on wheels to hold the front up.

Do you think it will still be front heavy with the t/a housing attached?

No, when doing the split with the speed transmission attached it will be very rear heavy.
