Subject: Help! Cab Roof Removal New Holland TD95D

The Palouse North Idaho
I have to replace the heater supply hoses on the cab roof of our TD95D. They are leaking at the base of the cab A pillar and I can 't use a repair fitting in that location because I've all ready done that once.
The Shop Manual says to remove the four roof bolts which I have done. It then says to lift the roof up and off. It will not budge.

If somebody has done this already I could sure use some advice on how to proceed.

Thanks in advance

I have done the same thing you are doing to a Case IH JX80 which is a very similar tractor. I assume you removed the bolts that hold the lights on the back? The weatherstrip around the outside will glue itself to the roof. Try taking a screwdriver or something and go around the edge of the cab to release the rubber from the roof.

Thanks for your response. I was just thinking about that as a possibility.
Did you use New Holland hose or did you make up some yourself? My luck with any rubber products made anywhere else but in the US has been poor. I'm thinking of using gates green stripe hose as the replacement. I will probably have to go to the 1/2" size to get it down the A pillar.

Is there anything else you would suggest that would be helpful?

Thanks again!

I got some from the local auto parts store I believe it was goodyear brand. I think it was 5/8 hose so that's what I used to replace it. You may have to drop the front of the fuel tank to get the hoses routed under there. It's pretty easy since the rear of the tank is on a hinge.

Yeah the OEM hose is 5/8" but I think it's pretty thin wall thickness that's why it started leaking. I've never had any luck with European made hose or belts. Goodyear is a good brand name. How old is you tractor? Have you ever had to do this kind of stuff on a cabbed tractor before? This is my first tractor with a cab and I'm kinda' PO'd at having to do this on a 2007 machine! It only has 390 total hours on it!

I think the heavy duty Gates hoses have a thicker wall and so the OD is bigger and I was concerned about being able to pass the hose down the A pillar. I figured I'd use 1/2" ID Gates Green Strip hose. If I can get the Gates5/8" down the A pillar,I'll use it because it's the OEM ID.

Thanks again for your help.

I'm still having a heck of time getting the roof off. I've gone around the entire gasket with a putty knife, removed the light bar and pried up to try to get the roof up, to no avail. The gasket seems to be free because the front edge moves up. The two studs with the rubber seals seem to be where things are not releasing I'm considering get some silicone spray to spray on the gasket and the seals. There is also an antenna on the right side that I can't remove but I don't think that's the issue. Is there anything else you can think of that I can do?

I have a td 5050. the antenna is not holding it on there is a foot of slack. their is a rubber washer underneath the bolts. now mind had two studs and two bolts if I remember right. the two 1/2 sized studs was what had it held down. the threads were catching the tin roof. i had to hit it so hard to get it lose, it flew off the other side of the tractor. it will come off may be have someone on the other side to catch it.

Thanks for your response.
The two 1/2" studs appear to be what's holding the roof from moving up. I think maybe the rubber seals are stuck on the threads. I took the cab filter off and I can see where that stud is located. I'll put some silicone spray on the stud and the seal and maybe pry up on the roof near the stud from below.

Did you also have to replace the heater hoses?

A picture's worth a thousand words. Thanks! Do you think the damage of a roof falling on it caused the problem?

Thats a hard one. The roof truss landed in the front corner on top of the rops post. so it was a very small dent.

Well I got one side of the roof to move up. I pried it up from the bottom by going through the hole that the cab air filter sits in. Now I have to get the other side up.

Finally got the right side off after taking the seal off. I had to torque the roof to get it to release off the thread of the stud that holds it on. Thanks to CaseIH2388 and farmboy 1492 for their help!
