What might be the reason I have these glove size mold balls mixed though out this bag? I've never seen it before. Is it safe to feed to gestating cows? I have been feeding from this bag for a month now and they keep showing up, in fact maybe getting worse. Your imput please.

Thanks for the input. I hadn't thought of that, although I did wonder about the dryness of the feed I hadn't had a problem in the past with this moisture.

I my defense this was a bagger I had bought and was in the feeling out process. In the past had been renting a "Ag Bagger" but had been having problems getting it when it was needed. If I remember correctly I was getting a 10 1/4" stretch line but wasn't enough for that dry of silage. I was using a tourqe wrench to set the pressure, and was set at 35ft/lbs on the brake. Live and learn!
Thanks for the help.

Also with bag open in this warmer weather lets air in faster than you are feeding. Might diminish with colder weather, mine did last year.

Looks way to dry for adequate compaction and air removal. If you would have ran a garden hose on the conveyer while loading it would have helped tremendously. Jon

my expirence between Kelly ryan and agbag baggers was that the Kelly ryan packed the top of the bag better  because the rotor in the agbag is down lower . always had more mold in the agbag made bags . looks like the older style Kelly bagger you got there , on those we would pull all 4 bolt as tight as we could . even more so in dryer feed. hopfully you will feed out of it soon.

This feed is to dry, it won't get a good fermentation, and there will be air pockets in the bag. In my experience in feeding feed from bags the white mold seems to be harmless. In fact when I used to feed the tmr and one of those white clumps of silage would roll out the cows would go after it like it was candy. Blue or red mold is dangerous.

Plus one to what D-78 said. Made too dry. My experience with white/grey mold is the same too, not a concern.
When using a KR bagger, don't try to use torque for brake settings. Watch the bag and how hard the tractor is working. The brake pads can wear to where they cock in the calipers and don't work smoothly. You can have the bolts tight but the pads aren't squeezing the disc like they should. Chevy pads from the parts store.

A garden hose can't raise the mposrure but maybe a point.

Will he need a prescription for that under the new antibiotics feed additives laws?

lol!-maybe add water to ration so that all cows get some-my granddaughter asked me why I was putting liquid feed on-I asked her if she liked her pancakes without syrup?!!
I wonder if that corn silage would be better with syrup mixed in?sometimes that dry corn silage is actually better then wet-the cows seem to do great on it!

We have different models and sizes of KR baggers but we set the brake to 250-300 ft lbs. With the tunnel extension on ours, it's impossible to stretch the bag too much.

Driftless SW Wisconsin

I've had drier than pictured corn silage custom bagged using a Agbag with almost no spoilage at all as long as I kept up using it. I think the bagger may need to be set to pack tighter than it was in the OP.

Tried the garden hose on dry silage in the blower years ago. Similar to spitting on a wood fire. No real change in end result.

Hopefully not feeding dairy, it will make the milk tank have a positive test for penicillin.

This thread makes me glad I put in a bunker! Some folks told me that the feed quality out of a bag can't be beat, but others said bags were a PITA to deal with. I decided a bunker with block concrete walls, packed well and covered with plastic was the way to go for me and so far I love it.
