South Dakota | If you were looking at a used S77 combine to be used for corn planted 16X30, Soybeans planted the same and Rye all in no till. 1. What are some or the things that you need to look at? 2. What options would you want? 3. Is an 8 row corn head to small in 150bu Corn? 4. What options are not needed? 5. What about rear wheel assist? 6. Would you want auto-steer? 7. What about accelerator rolls? We have been running an R62 so we know what the Gleaner is like.

Strathcona, mn | I don't have a s77 but I have a r76 Head, either a 35' or 40' dynaflex or 35' 8200. I have 2 8200 heads and they are pretty good for an auger head. Corn, how fast are you comfortable driving? I have corn btw 120-175 and can run as fast as 6mph with an 8 row head. Can see 3500-3800bph. A 12 would be better but doesn't match my planter, 32r30". Rwa depends on your conditions. I have a r75 with rwa and my r76 has griptracks. I don't have auto steer in either. We cut with the rows on rowed beans so the only time it would be nice would be in wheat. I've replaced accelerator rolls in both if mine with full stainless ones from pfp. I've had one set in for 3 seasons with virtually no wear. I used to wear a set out every 1.5yrs. As far as things to look at if you already have a gleaner than you know what to look for. Gleaner didn't reinvent the wheel on the s series, just made it roll smoother.

Strathcona, mn | It'll spike to that on the best of corn but usually runs 2500 or so. Point was the clean grain elevator can handle those bushels without overfilling the shoe. My r75 won't handle nearly the bushels without over running the clean grain system. The s series has the same clean grain system my r76 does.

northeastern Ohio | I have an R66. I just put new accelerator rolls in it and went with the poly ones from Gleaner (they are orange). I added rear wheel assist. I don't use it too often, but it can be handy to use as a two speed to pull up a hill without shifting down. I have autosteer, but never use it. I just demo'd a used S67 last week. The powerfold hopper was nice for capacity, but I had to go on the roof and help it open and close. This machine had 750 sep hours. Otherwise, it wasn't much different than my R66 (500 sep hours).

| I'd be using that rear wheel assist anytime I wasn't on the road. In fact, we are on our second Gleaner with RWA (52 and 65) and always use it. Supposed to take some strain off of the hydro and helps in turning. We've never had hydro problems (knock on wood). | |||

Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle | Id rather have the 2 speed hydro added than RWA, we ryoun some steep hills and have never needed RWA, byout the 2 speed woyould be awesome as we can max oyout the hydro in 2nd on oyour R62. IIRC the 2 speed can be retrofitted back to anything 2003 and newer, and I know that becayouse we have a 2002 62 :(
