Do you own the bagger? What does it cost per bu or per bag? One of those bags hold 19,000 bu ?
I know lot of questions, just curious. J

I dont own the bagger and not exactly sure on price yet or not sure enough to post anyway. We are thinking around 15000 bu per bag.

We filled a bunch of 10x300' bags last year, usually a little over 14,000 bushels but could vary 500 bushels. Last year a 300' bag was about $975 with shipping when ordered by the pallet full (6).

Sounds reasonable. What's a bagger cost?

New I think you'd be in the neighborhood of $60k for a bagger and unloader.

Great pics! Did you rent the bagger from Mattinglys? Are you bagging corn you've already dried? Several guys around Washington Co. bagging right now.

Todd I stopped by your farm here a couple months back to meet you. I was going by Toms so I stopped by. You were in town that day. You may remember. You had some great looking crops. A friend of mine who works for Whayne talks highly of you. Look forward to meeting you sometime soon. Always good to network with local guys and see what they're doing. Good luck with the rest of harvest!

Nice pics of a nice looking farmstead, farmland and equipment. Bins getting full with corn still in the field is a good problem to have.

Stay safe with harvest.

how are you guys justifying the bags over commercial storage or even reowning the board?

15 cents a bushel for just the bag plus 5-10 cents/bu for the fill machine? is that about correct numbers?

that would eat up any basis appreciation right there in my opinion... or am i off?

thanks

we use bags on a regular basis. This is mostly for rented land with no grain storage and no idea of how long we will have the land. The bags cost us about 7 cents per bushel. we own the extractor and a neighbour has the bagger so we trade each other to keep the costs down.

Grain bag unloader works with a brandt 1545 conveyor. Will load 25 tons of corn in 12 minutes. If anyone is interested please email me at [email protected].

Plastic cost is half of your number. Last year there was no commercial storage available, only places taking grain were ethanol plants 45 minutes away so unless you had a fleet of trucks that wasn't practical.

Our corn yields have varied 100 bpa over the past 5 years and that makes the flexibility of bags very attractive to us.
