NE IL | Spent a few hours today trying to figure out why the flashers or turn signals on the semi suddenly don't light. Put in a new flasher and fuse. When you flip the signal handle the flasher clicks a few times, like it normally does, and then gradually dies out. The lamps never flash though. When I test the prongs on the flasher while it's partially plugged in I get the test lamp to blink like it should. The turn signal lamps light up when I turn on the CL LPS lights and all other lights and functions on the truck work fine. Is there anything else I should try? I'm going to try and find some grounds to clean up in the morning. |

| Could be like a freightliner I used to have. It had a "turn signal controller" on it. Never did figure out what for. Just by passed it and everything worked OK. |

Pierce county WI | Try it hooked to a trailer, or unhooked if it's hooked to one already. Mine will do that if it's not getting good ground through the 5th wheel. It's definitely a ground issue. When you said the flasher worked when you touched with the test light, that meant it was getting a ground to complete the circuit. One other thing, if you just changed the lights to leds the flashers won't work without a digital flasher. Leds don't draw enough power to get the flasher to work, good luck! |
