Acted up today a few times, then went to 0. New to us combine less than 200 acres. I believe it's on the bottom bearing of the rotor. How big of a job,( and hoping it's just the sensor) is this? TIA (1400 threshing hours)

Happened on our 9760 a few years ago. Rotor bearing went out, and the gear that sensor reads to give you a rotor speed reading chewed the end of the sensor up. Machine was new to us at the time also. Dealer sent a guy out, but after we saw him fix it, it's not that much to it.

Under the black plastic hood behind/above feeder house. Blow dust/crap off. 18mm wrench, loosen nuts/slide latches. Take the upper door/rubber seal and top plate out. Remove the black plastic hood. We had the tone wheel (gear looking piece) on the end of the shaft comes loose once and we also had one of the wires break off the sensor. One guy on each of the feeder house the first time makes the job go easier.

Even if it is the bearing, simple change. No big deal. Likely the easiest "major bearing" on the machine.

I just want to throw this out there because we had an issue with our 9770 not reading speed the other day. We discovered that you don't get a rotor speed reading with the rotor in neutral. :-( It was an easy fix. On second thought I should have probably just kept that to myself.....

Don't worry, you aren't alone on that one. We took cover off, everything looked good. Called dealership...."are you sure you have the rotor in gear?" Uh...no.

Been brought up on here by many different guys did the same thing. We did break the wires once though.
