| I have a JD 2955 (1985 model I believe) with a cab. When shifting gears, it grinds them really bad and usually takes a couple of tries before you can get it in a gear. It does not matter which stick you try to put in a gear first (whether it be the hi/lo stick or the actual gear stick, they grind either way). Power steering not working right. It is kind of jerky when running. What are your thoughts on what's wrong and does anyone know a guesstimate on cost to fix? |

NW Washington | My first guess is that you have clutch disengagement problems. I am not up on the details but I remember that the hydraulic clutch system on these German JD tractors can be a problem. |

west central Iowa | We have 2955 also. There is clutch reservoir under dash cover on left side. Probably empty due to a leak. Book will tell which DOT fluid to use. |

Waxahachie, TX | We have a 2950 and have had issues with the master slave for the clutch, not giving full travel. |

South Central Kansas | X2 on the clutch and if you need to bleed it you will have to figure out a way to push fluid backwards through the system to get the air out. The 2950 also had a slave cylinder that set on top of the transmission that was hooked to the clutch system. It can leak fluid also and needs to be bled with the rest of the system. Don't know if the 55s have that also. |
