Bring a mechanic with you and go through it front to back and top to bottom. U can get lots of $ tied up real fast if nuthin had been looked at.

Montana
I bought a 9760 a few years ago with real low hours but it had been sitting. I learned that the 9760 is almost the same as a 9660 but more powerful. I bought mine in the Moorehead Minn. area and had them go through it and put it in good working order. It cost me $3500 dollars to get it hauled to Montana and now I am going to cut way back on my farming so i am going to sell it.
I rented from machinery Link and ran several 9660 and 9670 and 9770 combines. I liked the simplicity of the 9660 and 9760 combines and it was my experience that they had more power than the 70 series.

There is some very nice creature features on newer 70 series like adjustable tail board and remote sieve and chaffer settings but I don't mind setting them outside.

I really really like the 9660 and 9770 combines and have found them to be very reliable and huge capacity. It is not even a load on my 9760 to cut 1300 bushel and hour of wheat if I have a good heavy stand. I really like the Straw chopper and the ease of opening up the back end if you wish not to chop straw. I have all kinds of thoughts and ideas about the 60 series and i think they are the best for the money.
OH Yes You want the Bullet rotor so the machine you buy needs to be 2006 or newer.

RDO told me they had a real good mechanic and he did a very nice job on mine and let me know of little cosmetic things I could do easy. I really like those folks. I suggest a dual tire machine because if you lose a tire you can limp in where with a super single, you are shut down.

My machine has 1426 engine and 1004 Separator hours. I have it all clean and working nice and am asking $140 thousand out here in Montana, it is not uncommon to see them listed for a lot more if they are a Bullet Rotor, 2006 and newer, Mine has the Quick Tach and contour master header tilt. That does not matter much if you will be running a draper head. I have a 630 Rigid head and it is really nice to move because i can jocky through gates and run down most Country roads, with a flagger. Quick Tach is really really nice if you have to remove the head often, That is one of my very favorite Deere inventions. If the Combine is auto steer ready with Greenstar, that is really nice too. Mine is Greenstar but not integrated steering ready so I steer it with a Trimble EZ steer and FMX. I really like autosteer and highly recommend it.

I bought a 9760 last year, went from a walker. coolest thing I own. I was told/and I saw when looking that they changed a lot of stuff in 06 for the better. so that is a huge plus for you. I keep hearing that the maintenance is a bit more expensive on these. they have a fast unload option, which is a really good thing. this one would have a bullet rotor which I am told is a good thing but I guess I never had one without. you should get a deal, stuff is cheap. I spent 110 on mine with about the same hours. I think you can find them cheaper if you look hard enough, and especially if you wait till the dealers are nervous they will have them sitting on the lot for another year.

We haven't put very many acres through our 'new' '07 9660 yet, but we like it so far! It seems very easy to run once you learn the controls. Ours has around 1100 sep hrs, and cost us under $5000 to get ready, including the dealer mechanic's inspection (it's our first rotary and we didn't want to miss anything).

yeah it folds down, and not any harder or easier than any other. that is one of my favorite parts, around 400 bushel.

60 Series you can adjust the chaffer/sieve from the cab. 50's you had to do it from outside.

As far as the bullet rotor, we have had both and it will definitely do better in tough crops like green stem soybeans but the conventional will do a better job in wheat. There are enough advantages to the 06 and newer machines though to go with the bullet.
