Subject: JD 6410 loosing fuel prime

West Central Arkansas
Have 1999 JD 6410 with just over 1600 hrs. Tractor starts almost immediately, but it will shutdown very soon after started if setting for a day or so. I suspect that a check valve is leaking resulting in a loss of prime.

Please share your thoughts.

Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
Put a check valve between the tank and fuel filter. It's a known, common problem and an incredibly simple fix. It's actually in the 6410 parts catalog.

Our 7430 did the same thing, parts guy told me to replace all the hoses from the the fiber/rubber to all rubber hose. Long story short that did it. They didn't leak but were always dusty and that let the fuel drain back.

All you needed was the check valve.

The rapidly vanishing farmland of Boone Co. Ind.
If it has the factory hoses, replace them. Deere put crap hoses on those for a few years. Small cracks let air in.

+1 on replacing the hoses. I also replaced them cheap pinchy type clamps with real hose clamps. Had same issues here. No more.

It must have been a problem over several years. Our 6430 had hell with cheap leaky fuel lines. The hose got hard and brittle. would let air suck into fuel lines I guess. Several service calls, I think there was a PIP at end when traded it to replace all hose.

Had to replace check valve and fuel lines on '01 6310 at about 3 years old. Used fuel line from NAPA. Had to get short hose between filter and pump from Deere. 1700 hours on tractor now.
