Subject: Rope Wick for a 4 wheeler

Has anyone ever built a rope wick for a 4 wheeler? I have 100 acres of beans that are up but have some resistent giant ragweed scattered that isnt dead. Any good ideas to take care of this before we can get back in with sprayer. What would work in one for chemicals, any advice would be appreciated.

As with most things do not become greedy. With a narrow wheel base keep the bar narrow. With a short wheel base be ready to change the bar's height quickly.

One hint, you want a system that you can put water under pressure inside the bar to wash all the herbicide out of the wick material.

With round up I use distilled water as a carrier. The roundup maintains it's potency longer with mineral free water.

Another hint is to go slow, 2 mph is better than 5 mph. Plan to wipe the weeds from both sides. That is coming and going.

For your application, banvil is labeled for wicking.

Another suggestion, no additives! Additives just plug up the pores in the wick.

many people clamp the wick's frame to a front loader. On an old tractor I have a permanent hydraulic controlled raise and lowering.

I don't know that I would use Banvel on beans even in ropewick. Sometimes I think driving by them with an open container makes beans curl up. It might be fine but it would worry me. Ya'll have a nice day. Weldon

Still giant ragweed is difficult to kill with roundup. At least here it is.
