Tuscola County, MI | Considering not using my spinner box for fertilizer any more and getting rid of the liquid unit for 28%. Thinking Air Max or Soilection box, both multi bin. Which have people had better luck with? Are the really as much maitainence as our fertilizer supplier say they are? Probably will put 300 hours on machine per year. TIA

RUN!!!! You do not want a airflow. Have ran a AirMax 180 a couple years ago. Maintenance nightmare. Buy yourself a nice new leader multiplier box and it will do just as good of a job as a AirMax

Tuscola County, MI | The spinner box I have is a two year old Ag Force duo bin. There were a few things on that I liked I that better than a new leader. Having an air machine would allow me to continue to spread lime through the fall with the spinner instead of putting in the second bin. Like I said I would be getting rid of my liquid unit and would apply urea instead of 28 in the spring.

Indiana | A spinner box will spread urea fertilizer as well.

You will not like an airflow. Don't know about your duoforce box bout you can pull a new leader multiplier out and have it ready to spread lime in a hour and a half or 2 hours

Tuscola County, MI | I've watched some try to spread urea with spinners around here. Not going to happen on my farm. Lots of uneveness and 65% more passes across the field to try to get the pattern close which means more compaction.

Tuscola County, MI | It's about the same for our box, thing is we don't have the time to do it when we would need to. I think with what I've read so far I'll just stick with liquid in the spring and spread as much lime as I can till I need to start spreading fall fert.

Tuscola County, MI | What settings do you change? Swath width and spinner speed?

Central ND | We switched from a Terra gator air max to a new leader/4920 this year, urea, 11-52-0, 21-0-0-24, never going back to a boom machine if we can help it! We spread everything at 90' and we are completely satisfied.

South Central Manitoba | What about wind? Like really strong winds that come in the spring sometimes.

North Central MN | Ya and keep adjusting all season, quit spreading when the wind blows, adjust width because you can't throw lighter product as far. Give me an airmax box any day and if you think you can get as even of spread out of a spinner you are a fool.

You are a little blunt, but I agree. We have 5 spinner spreaders and 1 Tyler (now Case) air machine. Spinner spreaders are Jacks of all trades, the Air machine is a master of one. I spent a lot of time years ago, trying to get a good pattern with a New Leader G-4 and urea. It is far harder than most people believe, and without a pattern test kit, you are guessing.

North Central MN | I meant it in the nicest way, really. It's just not possible. Yes, they have their place but where uniformity and accuracy are the main concern, spinners should not be involved.

Best day of my 25 year carrier was the day our last air machine bed was hauled to the scrap iron. Adjust the spinners speed and the throat position for each product. Yes in very high wind you park it but you lack of down time will more than make up that. We have opened both styles of air machines and they are both POS. we have 50 machines in our dry fleet and not a single air machine now.

SD | Get the Air Max it is better then augers on a soilection and the soilection distributer head can plug easier. I am not a fan of spinners unless you are looking for something cheap.
