West Middletown | I just recently purchased a John Deere 6620 Titan II Combine. The John Deere website shows the Serial # running from 000001 to 611,xxx. Other sources on the web seem to indicate these Combines were made between about 1979 and the late 80's. My Serial Number 610,123. Does anybody know how to determine the year of manufacture??

Titan II's were marketed from 1985 thru 88'. In 89 JD went to the 9x00 series. I had a 1985 6620 but I am unable to help with the serial #. A titan II will have a green (not a yellow) cab roof.

Pierce county WI | I believe they made the 6620t2 into 89 for the sidehills. Serial # 610301 and up should be titan 2. Tailings elevator, sieves look different.

Southern Pa. | WItitan2 - 6/19/2015 09:13 I believe they made the 6620t2 into 89 for the sidehills. Serial # 610301 and up should be titan 2. Tailings elevator, sieves look different. 1988 was the last year of the XX20 series combines, except for the 6620 sidehill which was kept for one more year. Titan ll combines have longer sieves, (I think, correct me if I'm wrong), they definitely have a tailings elevator setup similar to the 9000 series, a green roof, and the chaffer/sieves were sped up. (Walkers too??) This was to help increase capacity. Some folks change them back to the slower speed to help lengthen shaker bushing life. I don't know if it's makes a big difference in reliability/capacity or not,or how big a deal it is to change it back. Maybe someone else can help you with that information. Used to own a 6620. It did a great job for a combine that size. Kinda curious how yours is a Titan ll with the serial number that it has? Good luck!

Hennepin, IL | Amazes me how they made +/- 50,000 until 1984 when they made 10,000. Then they only made +/- 5,000 the rest of the years. Really shows what was going on in those years.

I suppose in later years, many wanted more capacity, so the 7720 was most popular, there were lots of 8820's around here also, not so many 6620's.

Pierce county WI | You think that's low, check out production of jd 4050 tractors in like 85 or 86. I don't think they made 50 one of those years. That's when Deere started making motor home chasis, nothing better to build!
