Subject: Fence row nozzle (pics)

West salem, wi
Looking for ideas on how to add a fence row nozzle to my sprayer. It is a hardi eagle boom. Also does using a fence row nozzle affect the rate at all? Or does that depend on where you tie into the system? Thanks.

That boom end cap is some kind of thread. I don't remember what, bsp I think. Add a ball valve and nozzle. It would affect the rate some negligible amount.

I got these on our new sprayer and promptly got broken off. Next option is to build some kind of fender to protect the nozzle. I would also make some kind of additional protector for the boom nozzle so that it can still survive the limb hits or hitting the ground. Also planning to put the solenoid back from end of boom and run hose out to nozzle.

You can get a hose barb fitting from Hardi and make the rest your self like Wildbuck said.

You have a few options - some inexpensive, some cost more. With one Hardi connector you can go to a pvc valve and manually turn it off and on. Hardi makes a fence row kit, but than would be more costly and complicated to add and would require the controller to be compatible.

I have several parts for the manual installation which I won't use since I've gone to a Case self propelled. Email is in my profile if you are interested and I'll give you my cell. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow of the parts needed. Most of them you could get at a TSC, hardware, or plumbing store. Regarding the rate, the one fence row tip turned on won't significantly change your rate to matter.

Have one on mine . To keep it simple just get the one from Hardi and drive on .
Just unthread the end cap , take the plug out and the shut off valve and nozzle will thread right on with the end cap .

I put a fence row nozzle on our old sprayer. I teed into the supply hose to the outer boom section & -put an electric shut off valve on the tee. From the shut off I rsn a separate uose to the end of the boom. I then clamped an old single swivel row drop to which I connected the hose. On the swivel I put a flat fan tip. Swivel allowed me to angle the tip to suite my needs. Electric toggle switched allowed m err to turn the fence row nozzle on / off in the can.

Current sprayer ca e with fence row nozzles on each end of the boom. One is a small flood jet which allows me to double the coverage slong the edge of the field. Other side is pretty similar to what I put on the old sprayer & also has a flat fan nozzle on a swivel to spray out into the fence row at the desired angle.

Used fence row nozzles for many years. Have gotten away from them because since using rdup, the fencerow nozzles kill all in the fence row, including the good grass. When the good grass get killed, opens the door for broadleaf weeds all year long. Leave the fence row nozzles off, let the good grass thrive. Also better hunting in the fall.

If your dealer is close, the Hardi parts are as follows.

You will remove the plug, but save the nut. There is a piece that has an o-ring seal to insert and male threads which allows a Hardi quarter turn valve to connect. The valve is female threads on one end and male threads on the other which then allows a 45 degree piece that a nozzle cap screws on to hold a Hardi end row nozzle.

Page 27 has fence row nozzles.

You may want to move the foam marker bracket farther out the boom to keep from hanging it on nozzle in a break away situation.

I just plumbed up the foam tank on my 4730 to spray brush killer through the fence row nozzle. 5 GPM electric pump, 80' of hose, and a switch in the cab.
