sw MI | And can you use a M18 tool with a M18 fuel battery. And is M18 fuel worth the money. Looking at a drill and impact set. M18 is $199. M18 fuel is $399. Thanks for input. Tony |

Lawton, MI | I believe the fuel is brushless motors. All batteries are interchangeable. |

Manitoba | my m18 1/2 inch fuel impact is awesome. stronger than the cp air impact it replaced.
same batteries as the m 18 regular tools I have. but I did not have a non fuel 1/2 inch so I can't compare.

SESD | Yes fuel are all brushless and actually have more power. . . so depends on what your doing. Batteries all interchange as far as I know. |

SC WI | Batteries are not always interchangeable there are quite a few different generations of batteries the latest batteries will work in all the tools from the latest to the first m18's but the older batteries wont always work in the newer tools, especially the fuels, they use different batteries. You cant physically install the wrong battery though, the tools have tabs that wont allow the older batteries to be installed. There still the best cordless tools on the market its more of a statement of how innovative and advanced there new tools are vs tools they were putting out even just a year or two ago and the different power requirements. |

And next month, they will come out with a new and "better" version, bend over, cough, cough !! |

SC WI | It is what it is at least when you buy a new tool with batteries it works in all the older ones, they are change the battery type completely or making a 20 volt or 21 volt tool every time they change something to try and make the old tools obsolete. The difference between the 1/2" non fuel impact I have and the fuel 1/2" impact is night and day.

Eastern Ont | Check ebay. I think I paid a little over $200 for mine. The power of the fuel line is awesome. |

Mb | m18 fuel has a brushless motor. I used one daily for 4 years doing electrical work, it ran a 3/4" auger bit all the time and went through an average of 2 batteries a day. Drill never got hot and generally took a real beating. The trigger was what finally gave out on it, and dropping it in a puddle may have been a factor there. Overall an excellent tool and definitely worth the extra money if you want the power of a corded drill without the cord. |

West Union, Illinois | My deciding factor would be do the new batteries interchange with what I have now? We had 6 or 7 different rechargeable batteries. We are down to 18 volt DeWalt and 12 volt Milwaukee and one old Lincoln Grease gun we never use. |

Mather, Manitoba | "Red" batteries will fit anything. The regular ones from about 2005-2010 wont fit the Fuel lineup. |
