NC IA | All had TAs, unless someone has eliminated it. The 37s and 67s had the 3 speed with high-low range, and the 33-35-63-65 had 4-speed. The 37 & 67 had odd-ball ratio ring & pinions, that what makes them slower in high gear. Also VERY expensive if not impossible to find a ring & pinion for a 37/67. Smaller ones had same ring & pinion as all the common 1486 & smaller 2wds. None had planetary rear-ends, all had bull gear rears like 1086's. In fact I think they all used 3-1/4 inch axles like 9xx's, which to this day baffels me. |

| most people would rather stay away from both models |

I would say that any of them that has lived long enough to be in operation today surely can't be too bad. The weak ones have long ago became organ donors in a boneyard. |

| Think you would be much much better off with a 7100 series boxcar fwa magnum. Prob going to pay a little more..... But the headache potential of the 6588 or 6788 wouldn't be worth it for me, not to mention value down the road. |

Norhtwest Iowa | Dad had a 6788 that we used on a planter and a disk every once and a while. It would go places my 7250 wouldn't dare. I liked it for planting and loved it on my box scraper. It would go around 20 mph down the road. |

I'd go further and say pretty much anything would beat a 2+2. |

rochester IN | We had both and would strongly suggest the 6ooo series over the 35 if for no other reason the power steering is much better. I would never buy a 35 again the 67 was tolerable but takes some getting use to. |

S.E. South Dakota | Like anything that age you could get a good one or a money pit. |

| I demoed two 3588s back in the day, actually only demoed one because the first one never made it to the field. They're a tractor people either love or hate, I was in the 2nd group. Good friend bought a new 3588, traded it after 1 yr for a 3788 & IIRC, traded taht before the year was up for a 5488 He told me that the he regretted buying either of the 2+ 2s. |

Not so, a TA gives you a lower gear in low range, high range in a TA is the same as that gear in a tractor without TA, so road speed is the same.
The 35 has a 4 spd trans X 2 ranges, = 8 spd. The 37 /67 has a 3 spd trans X two ranges= 6 spd.
With the same size wheels front and rear,+ that engine weight hanging way out in front of the axle, 2+2 has far more traction than a similar weight FWA tractor.

NC IA | The difference in road speed between x588 vs x788 is difference in ring & pinion ratio in the rear end. |
