I used to have a DMI cushion hitch, assume the reason he wants to attach the receiver to it is to take advantage of the spring cushioning it provides?

Somewhere in the dusty, dark recesses of my brain lies a cobweb-covered image of a receiver hitch made to bolt on to a regular draw bar hitch, but I don't know if I am imagining it, or if there was ever one made.

The picture I have was of a receiver with tube stock that slid over the tongue of the hitch, and bolted with the hitch bolt and another drilled bolt hole through the tongue.

Disadvantage of that would be you would not be able to slide the tongue back into the bumper when no using it, so you would comply with the laws that say you cannot have any attachment extending beyond the bumper.

Wouldn't be hard to make, but if the original receiver was still attached to the frame, like comes on most new trucks, I would probably use it.

I bought a cushion hitch that slides into a standard receiver that I really love, it has a hole to pin it like all the others, then rubber on each side so the hitch can slide back and forth an inch or so.  I haven't seen one since I bought it, and I don't remember where I bought it, but I really like it.

I had a DMI bumper on my old truck, and made a drop hitch to be able to put a ball on it, worked great, its heavy, and i gaurantee it won't break. Bumper hitch was to high for the boat and a few of our trailers, i will see about getting a picture of it for you. it looks pretty good, not all hill billy made. i made it to slide over the drawbar on bumper.

It made a Crop
Here's what we made to work on Tractor drawbars. It's made to fit 2 differant sizes of drawbars. I don't see why this design wouldn't work. This one was made from all scrap I wouldn't use it for Highway use.

I have one of those shock hitchs that you slide in and like it too. I bought mine from an Ace Hardware that was going out of business.

Here's a cushion I bought at either Quality Fleet or TSC after they move into the same building.

Livinston Co. Il.
You all know that DMI makes a bumber with cushion hitch that has a 2 in. reciever instead of a hitch(tounge). Also a add on cushioned reciever hitch that goes under stock bumper.

It made a Crop

Here's one but  won't use the cushion.  Says it's a bolt-on for the DMI.  Here's 3 places on-line that list it.

The other alternative would be to go with a standard bumper and the DMI quik-n-easy receiver hitch.
