Subject: Pressure Washer Venting

Central Nebraska

I broke down today and bought a new hot water pressure washer.  Its a Shark/Karcher 3.5gpm/2000psi electric unit with a diesel burner.  I'm anxious to use it  but need to figure out exactly where I want to install it and then I need to vent it to the outside. Does anybody have pictures of how they vented theirs and along with any suggestions?

We mounted ours on the wall with a 100' of hose on a reel and we have a additional 100' if needed. Its a LP machine, 4 gpm @ 4000 psi. We have a 4x8 area under it that I tapered to a floor drain. After the picture was taken we ran a 8" stack through the ceiling and roof.

Slicker than a Yes album.
Make sure you put a blocker up-roof from it so sliding snow won't knock it loose.

that set up risks pushing the boiler exhaust back in the building . . . . wouldn't be allowed here, per code.   And, just saying - it's your set up and your building - your decision, only pointing it out for others to not consider your set up.

Twp has a new one installed and the instructions give the necessary vent pipe size and such. Otherwise, pretty straight forward. Pipe up through the roof. Ours has power damper, to close to conserve heat and such. It's also a 12 inch pipe - but ours is 400,000 but unit (5gpm @ 1500 psi). Go online and you should be able to find the directions on needed venting.

What did you use ? I couldn't find a jack I really liked or that was worth a darn to use on the steel roof.

Edit - oh, got it, was looking at the chimney itself, missed the dual units on the same flue. I understand now.

---------

What part is wrong? Depending on his roof height, he might be tall enough to clear the peak of the roof and thought that was a key, to get a certain height relative to the peak?

I'm just asking, I don't know much on this and want to learn....

Never did anything quite yet. A simple "V" screwed into the steel roof would at least divert snow. It generally doesn't pose a problem, but '13-'14 wasn't a normal winter.

Bought a Aladdin power washer. No vent needed. Diesel fuel fired no vent and no smell and best of all no 8" tube going out the shop wall.

Do they need to be vented vertically? I was going to just use a laundry vent for mine and go out horizontally. Will that not work?

Thanks,

Scott

The boiler does not run when using the power washer. Next door there are 88 non vented brooder stoves so the boiler is the least of my concerns. And yes safety is near the top on my list. It comes right after getting something done. :

If you would burn kerosene instead of diesel it will burn a lot cleaner so depending on how much you will use it you might not have to vent. Your burner should last longer also. That is what kartcher dealer told me. Mine will burn both but the reliability is so much better with kerosene. You could. Also mount a wall fan like from a hog barn and the just turn it on when you need too but the plus to this idea is if you had a vehicle running in your shop then you could exchange the air that way.
