Well always keep over something to butcher, but this year something got mixed up and everything went, I had a 750 steer picked out and Dad said we are keeping the frozen eared one. Well when loading trucks they all got loaded.  I have a 6 year old Bull that I could make into burger, I would guess he isn't 2000# but close to it.  How good would it be and how much burger will I get out of it.  For the most part I just want burger.

Haven't done it with a bull that old, but have butchered a 2-3 year old bull that got hurt, and it was great meat.

Why? You are gambling with a lot of money and the meat might not be good. I was told most older bulls go in bologna, etc.

If I were you, I would sell the bull and buy back a hanging half fat steer.

WY, OK

Did it once with one about that age that had a bad attitude.  I'll never eat bull again after that.  Even the sausage tasted bad.

I second the idea of selling him and buying back a fat calf.

If you just want hamburger, feed an open cow for about 30 days and grind her up.
